قال: ثنا يوسف عن أبيه عن أبي حنيفة، قال: بلغني عن «ابن مسعود رضي الله
عنه، أنه كان صاحب وضوء رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وحصيره وسواكه ونعليه
وعصاه، ويستره إذا اغتسل، ويمشي معه في الوحشة، ويرحل له إذا سافر، وكان من
أشد الناس به شبها إذا دخل وخرج، وكان يرسل أم عبد إليه فتخبره بذلك
وشمائله فيشبه به»

He said: Yusuf narrated to us from his father from Abu Hanifa, who said: It has reached me regarding Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was the caretaker of the water for the ablution of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), his mat, his tooth-stick, his sandals, and his staff. He would screen him when he performed a ritual bath, walk with him in desolate places, and prepare his mount for him when he traveled. He was among the people who most closely resembled him in his manner when entering and exiting. He used to send Umm 'Abd to him so that she would inform him of that and of his characteristics, so that he might emulate him.
Ai tha: Na ka treguar Jusufi, nga babai i tij, nga Ebu Hanifeja, i cili ka thënë: Më ka arritur rreth Ibn Mes’udit (r.a.) se ai ishte kujdestari i ujit të abdestit të të Dërguarit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.), rrogozit të tij, misvakut të tij, nallaneve të tij dhe shkopit të tij. Ai e mbulonte atë kur ai lahej, ecte me të në vende të vetmuara dhe ia përgatiste kafshën e udhëtimit kur ai udhëtonte. Ai ishte ndër njerëzit që i ngjante më së shumti atij në sjelljen e tij gjatë hyrjes dhe daljes.
