قال: حدثنا يوسف عن أبيه عن أبي حنيفة، عن الهيثم، أن رجلا، من أصحاب
النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أقبل على العبادة، فلما توفي النبي صلى الله عليه
وسلم أتاه رجل يسأله، فقال: ما أدري أو ما لي بهذا علم، فقال: «لو كان
أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أخذوا بما أخذت به ضاع العلم»

He said: Yusuf narrated to us from his father from Abu Hanifa, from al-Haytham, that a man from among the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) devoted himself to worship. When the Prophet (pbuh) passed away, a man came to him to ask him a question, and he said: "I do not know," or "I have no knowledge of this." So he said: "Had the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) taken up what you have taken up, knowledge would have been lost."
Ai tha: Na ka treguar Jusufi, nga babai i tij, nga Ebu Hanifja, nga El-Hejthemi, se një burrë prej shokëve të Profetit (s.a.v.s.) iu përkushtua adhurimit. Kur Profeti (s.a.v.s.) ndërroi jetë, i erdhi një burrë për ta pyetur, e ai tha: "Nuk e di", ose "Nuk kam njohuri për këtë". Atëherë ai tha: "Sikur shokët e Profetit (s.a.v.s.) të kishin marrë atë që more ti, dituria do të kishte humbur".
