600 - Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Abdullah bin el-Mubaraku, nga Hajve bin Shurejhi, nga Jezid bin Ebi Habibi, nga Eslem Ebu Imran et-Tuxhibiu, meula i Tuxhibëve, i cili ka thënë:
«Ishim në Kostandinopojë, ndërsa mbi njerëzit e Shamit ishte Fedale bin Ubejd el-Ensariu, dhe mbi njerëzit e Egjiptit ishte Ukbe bin Amir el-Xhuheniu. Na doli përpara një rresht i madh i Romakëve, dhe doli nga ne një rresht i madh i Muslimanëve. Atëherë një burrë nga Muslimanët u hodh mbi rreshtin e Romakëve dhe luftoi mes tyre, pastaj u kthye. Njerëzit bërtitën dhe thanë: Subhanallah! Ai e hodhi veten e tij në shkatërrim. Atëherë u ngrit Ebu Ejub el-Ensariu dhe tha: O ju njerëz, ju po e interpretoni këtë ajet ndryshe nga interpretimi i tij i vërtetë. Ky ajet ka zbritur për ne, grupin e Ensarëve, kur Allahu i Madhëruar e forcoi fenë e Tij dhe i shtoi ndihmëtarët e saj. Ne i thamë njëri-tjetrit fshehurazi nga i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.): Pasuritë tona janë lënë pas dore, sikur të qëndronim në to dhe të rregullonim atë që është lënë pas dore prej tyre. Atëherë Allahu i Madhëruar zbriti këtë ajet duke na kthyer nga ajo që kishim ndërmend në veten tonë, që të qëndronim në pasuritë tona e të rregullonim atë që ishte lënë pas dore. Pra, shkatërrimi ishte ajo që ne dëshironim të bënim (lënia e xhihadit), ndërsa u urdhëruam për luftë. Ebu Ejubi nuk pushoi së luftuari derisa Allahu i Madhëruar e mori shpirtin e tij».

- حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ
الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي
حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ التُّجِيبِيِّ مَوْلَى تُجِيبَ ،
قَالَ: «كُنَّا بِالْقُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةِ، وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الشَّامِ
فَضَالَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، وَعَلَى أَهْلِ مِصْرَ عُقْبَةُ
بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيُّ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا صَفٌّ عَظِيمٌ مِنَ
الرُّومِ، وَخَرَجَ مِنَّا صَفٌّ عَظِيمٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَحَمَلَ
رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَلَى صَفِّ الرُّومِ فَقَتَلَ فِيهِمْ، ثُمَّ
جَاءَ مُقْبِلًا، فَصَاحَ النَّاسُ، فَقَالُوا: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ، أَلْقَى
بِيَدِهِ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ، فَقَامَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ
فَقَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّكُمْ تَأَوَّلُونَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ
عَلَى غَيْرِ هَذَا التَّأْوِيلِ، وَإِنَّمَا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ
فِينَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ، لَمَّا أَعَزَّ اللهُ ﷿ دِينَهُ، وَكَثَّرَ
نَاصِرِيهِ، قُلْنَا بَيْنَنَا سِرًّا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ
أَمْوَالَنَا قَدْ ضَاعَتْ، وَلَوْ أَقَمْنَا فِيهَا فَأَصْلَحْنَا مِنْهَا
مَا قَدْ ضَاعَتْ مِنْهَا، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷿ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ يَرُدُّ
عَلَيْنَا مَا هَمَمْنَا بِهِ فِي أَنْفُسِنَا أَنْ نُقِيمَ فِي
أَمْوَالِنَا فَنُصْلِحَ مَا قَدْ ضَاعَ مِنْهَا، فَكَانَتِ التَّهْلُكَةُ
الَّتِي أَرَدْنَا أَنْ نَفْعَلَ، وَأُمِرْنَا بِالْغَزْوِ، فَمَا زَالَ
أَبُو أَيُّوبَ يَغْزُو حَتَّى قَبَضَهُ اللهُ ﷿».
600 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Abdullah bin al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Haywah bin Shurayh, from Yazid bin Abi Habib, from Aslam Abu Imran al-Tujibi, the freed slave of Tujib, who said: "We were at Constantinople, and Fadalah bin Ubayd al-Ansari was in charge of the people of Sham, and Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani was in charge of the people of Egypt. A massive rank of Romans came out against us, and a massive rank of Muslims went out against them. Then a man from the Muslims charged at the Roman rank and fought among them, then he came back. The people shouted and said: 'Subhan Allah! He has cast himself into destruction with his own hands.'
So Abu Ayyub al-Ansari stood up and said: 'O people, you are interpreting this verse in a way other than its intended interpretation. This verse was only revealed concerning us, the assembly of the Ansar. When Allah (azwj) granted victory to His religion and increased its supporters, we said among ourselves, secretly from the Messenger of Allah (saw): "Our wealth has been neglected, and if we were to stay with it and repair what has been lost of it..." So Allah (azwj) revealed this verse, refuting what we had intended in our souls regarding staying with our wealth to repair what had been lost of it. Thus, the destruction was what we intended to do, and we were commanded to go out for battle. Abu Ayyub continued to go out for battle until Allah (azwj) took his soul.'"
