- Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Harb bin Shedadi dhe Aban bin Jezidi, nga Jahja bin Ebi Kethiri, nga Hilal bin Ebi Mejmune, nga Ata bin Jesari, nga Muavije bin el-Hakem es-Sulemi, i cili ka thënë: «Fala namazin me Pejgamberin (s.a.v.s.) dhe një burrë pranë meje teshtiu, e unë i thashë: Jerhamukallah (Allahu të mëshiroftë)! Njerëzit më shikuan me vërejtje, e unë thashë: Mjerë unë, çfarë keni që më shikoni kështu ndërsa jam duke u falur! Ata filluan t'i godasin kofshët e tyre me duar për të më heshtur. Kur i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) e përfundoi namazin e tij - për babanë e nënën time, nuk kam parë as para tij e as pas tij dikë që ishte mësues më i mirë se ai - pasha Allahun, ai as nuk më qortoi, as nuk më shau e as nuk më goditi, por më tha: Në këtë namazin tonë nuk lejohet asgjë nga fjalët e njerëzve, ai është vetëm namaz, tesbih (lartësim i Allahut), tahmid (falënderim i Allahut) dhe lexim i Kuranit, ose ashtu siç tha i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.). Unë kisha disa dele që kullotnin midis Uhudit dhe el-Xhevanijes, ku kisha edhe një robëreshë. Një ditë shkova t'i shoh dhe pashë se ujku kishte marrë një dele prej tyre. Unë jam prej bijve të Ademit, mërzitem ashtu siç mërziten ata, prandaj ngrita dorën dhe e godita atë (robëreshën) me një shuplakë. Pastaj erdha te i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) dhe ia tregova këtë, e ai e konsideroi këtë si një veprim të rëndë. Unë i thashë: O i Dërguari i Allahut, a ta liroj atë? Ai tha: Thirre atë. Unë e thirra. Ai (s.a.v.s.) i tha asaj: Ku është Allahu? Ajo tha: Në qiell. Ai tha: Kush jam unë? Ajo tha: Ti je i Dërguari i Allahut. Atëherë i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: Liroje atë, sepse ajo është besimtare. Unë i thashë: O i Dërguari i Allahut, mes nesh ka njerëz që vizatojnë vija (për parashikim)! I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: Ka qenë një pejgamber prej pejgamberëve që ka vizatuar vija, kështu që kush përputhet me vijën e tij, ajo është në rregull. Unë i thashë: Mes nesh ka njerëz që besojnë në ogure (shpendët)! Ai tha: Kjo është diçka që ata e ndjejnë në gjokset e tyre, por kjo të mos i pengojë ata (nga qëllimet e tyre). Unë i thashë: O i Dërguari i Allahut, mes nesh ka njerëz që shkojnë te parashikuesit (kahanët)! I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: Mos shkoni tek ata».

- حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ
وَأَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ
بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ
بْنِ الْحَكَمِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ: «صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ - ﷺ -
فَعَطَسَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى جَنْبِي، فَقُلْتُ: يَرْحَمُكَ اللهُ! فَرَمَانِي
الْقَوْمُ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ، فَقُلْتُ: وَاثُكْلَ أُمِّيَاهْ، مَا لِي
أَرَاكُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيَّ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي! فَجَعَلُوا يَضْرِبُونَ
بِأَيْدِيهِمْ عَلَى أَفْخَاذِهِمْ يُصَمِّتُونِي، فَلَمَّا قَضَى رَسُولُ
اللهِ - ﷺ - صَلَاتَهُ، فَبِأَبِي وَأُمِّي مَا رَأَيْتُ قَبْلَهُ وَلَا
بَعْدَهُ أَحَدًا أَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمًا مِنْهُ، وَاللهِ مَا كَهَرَنِي وَلَا
سَبَّنِي وَلَا ضَرَبَنِي، وَلَكِنَّهُ قَالَ لِي: إِنَّ صَلَاتَنَا
هَذِهِ لَا يَصْلُحُ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ كَلَامِ النَّاسِ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ
الصَّلَاةُ وَالتَّسْبِيحُ وَالتَّحْمِيدُ وَقِرَاءَةُ الْقُرْآنِ، أَوْ
كَالَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَكَانَتْ لِي غَنَمٌ تَرْعَى بَيْنَ
أُحُدٍ وَالْجَوَّانِيَّةِ فِيهَا جَارِيَةٌ لِي، فَاطَّلَعْتُهَا ذَاتَ
يَوْمٍ وَإِذَا الذِّئْبُ قَدْ ذَهَبَ مِنْهَا بِشَاةٍ، وَأَنَا مِنْ بَنِي
آدَمَ آسَفُ كَمَا يَأْسَفُونَ، فَرَفَعْتُ يَدِي فَصَكَكْتُهَا صَكَّةً،
فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ - ﷺ - فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَعَظَّمَ ذَلِكَ
عَلَيَّ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَفَلَا أُعْتِقُهَا؟ قَالَ:
ادْعُهَا، فَدَعَوْتُهَا. قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهَا: أَيْنَ اللهُ؟، قَالَتْ:
فِي السَّمَاءِ، قَالَ: مَنْ أَنَا؟ قَالَتْ: أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ،
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَعْتِقْهَا؛ فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ، قُلْتُ: يَا
رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ فِينَا قَوْمًا يَخُطُّونَ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ
ﷺ: قَدْ كَانَ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ يَخُطُّ، فَمَنْ وَافَقَ
خَطَّهُ فَذَاكَ، قُلْتُ: إِنَّ فِينَا قَوْمًا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ، قَالَ:
هُوَ شَيْءٌ يَجِدُونَهُ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ، وَلَكِنْ لَا يَصُدَّنَّهُمْ،
قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ فِينَا قَوْمًا يَأْتُونَ الْكُهَّانَ،
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: فَلَا تَأْتُوهُمْ».
1201 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Harb ibn Shaddad and Aban ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Hilal ibn Abi Maymunah, from 'Ata ibn Yasar, from Mu'awiyah ibn al-Hakam al-Sulami, who said: "I prayed with the Prophet (saw) and a man next to me sneezed, so I said: 'May Allah have mercy on you!' The people then cast glances at me, so I said: 'Woe to me! Why do I see you looking at me while I am praying!' They began striking their thighs with their hands to silence me. When the Messenger of Allah (saw) finished his prayer—may my father and mother be sacrificed for him, I have never seen anyone before him or after him who was a better teacher than him—by Allah, he did not rebuke me, nor did he insult me, nor did he strike me. Instead, he said to me: 'Indeed, this prayer of ours is not suitable for any of the speech of people; it is only prayer, glorification (Tasbih), praising Allah (Tahmid), and recitation of the Qur'an,' or as the Messenger of Allah (saw) said.
I had sheep grazing between Uhud and al-Jawwaniyyah, and I had a slave girl tending them. I checked on her one day and found that a wolf had taken one of the sheep. I am a human being and I get upset just as they get upset, so I raised my hand and slapped her. I then went to the Messenger of Allah (saw) and mentioned that to him, and he made it seem like a grave matter to me. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should I not set her free?' He said: 'Bring her to me.' So I brought her. He said to her: 'Where is Allah?' She said: 'In the heaven.' He said: 'Who am I?' She said: 'You are the Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah (saw) then said: 'Set her free, for she is a believer.'
I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, among us are people who practice geomancy (drawing lines in the sand)!' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'There was a Prophet among the Prophets who used to draw lines; so whoever's drawing coincides with his, then that is it.' I said: 'Among us are people who follow omens.' He said: 'That is something they find in their hearts, but let it not turn them away.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, among us are people who visit soothsayers.' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'Do not go to them.'"
