١١٠٦٠ - وَعَنْ أَبِي الْعُبَيْدَيْنِ الْعَامِرِيِّ، وَكَانَ ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ يُدْنِيهِ، فَقَالَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ: مَنْ نَسْأَلُ إِذَا لَمْ نَسْأَلْكَ؟ فَرَقَّ لَهُ فَقَالَ: مَا الْأَوَّاهُ؟ قَالَ: الرَّحِيمُ. قَالَ: فَمَا الْأُمَّةُ؟ قَالَ: الَّذِي يُعَلِّمُ النَّاسَ الْخَيْرَ. قَالَ: فَمَا الْقَانِتُ؟. قَالَ: الْمُطِيعُ. قَالَ: فَمَا الْمَاعُونُ؟ قَالَ: مَا يَتَعَاوَنُ النَّاسُ بَيْنَهُمْ. قَالَ: فَمَا التَّبْذِيرُ؟ قَالَ: إِنْفَاقُ الْمَالِ فِي غَيْرِ حَقِّهِ، وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فِي غَيْرِ حِلِّهِ.
#11060 11060 - And from Abu al-Ubaidayn al-Amiri—who was blind, and Abdullah ibn Mas'ud used to bring him close—he said to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: "Whom shall we ask if we do not ask you?" So he [Ibn Mas'ud] felt compassion for him and he [Abu al-Ubaidayn] asked: "What is 'Al-Awwah'?" He replied: "The merciful." He asked: "Then what is 'Al-Ummah'?" He replied: "The one who teaches people goodness." He asked: "Then what is 'Al-Qanit'?" He replied: "The obedient." He asked: "Then what is 'Al-Ma'un'?" He replied: "That which people cooperate with among themselves." He asked: "Then what is 'Al-Tabdhir'?" He replied: "Spending wealth in other than its rightful place," and in another narration: "in what is not lawful."

- Dhe nga Ebu el-Ubejdejn el-Amiri, i cili ishte i verbër, dhe Abdullah ibn Mes'udi e afronte atë. Ai i tha Abdullah ibn Mes'udit: "Kë të pyesim nëse nuk të pyesim ty?" Atij i erdhi keq për të dhe tha: "Çfarë është 'el-evvah'?" Ai tha: "I mëshirshmi."
