Hadith #11828 - Majma al-Zawaid - The Compilation of Extra Narrations and the Source of Benefits

١١٨٢٨ - وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - فَذَكَرَ الْقَوْمُ رَجُلًا فَذَكَرُوا مِنْ خُلُقِهِ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ قَطَعْتُمْ رَأْسَهُ أَكُنْتُمْ تَسْتَطِيعُونَ أَنْ تُعِيدُوهُ؟ قَالُوا: لَا، قَالَ: فَيَدُهُ؟ قَالُوا: لَا، قَالَ: فَرِجْلُهُ؟ قَالُوا: لَا، قَالَ: فَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَسْتَطِيعُوا أَنْ تُغَيِّرُوا خُلُقَهُ حَتَّى تُغَيِّرُوا خَلْقَهُ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ.

#11828 11828 - And on the authority of Abdullah bin Rabee'ah, who said: We were with Abdullah—meaning Ibn Mas'ud—and the people mentioned a man and spoke of his character. Thereupon, Abdullah said: "Do you think that if you were to cut off his head, you would be able to restore it?" They said: "No." He said: "What about his hand?" They said: "No." He said: "What about his leg?" They said: "No." He said: "Verily, you will never be able to change his character until you change his physical creation," then he mentioned the Hadith.

11828 - Dhe nga Abdullah bin Rabi'ah ka thënë: Ishim te Abdullahu - domethënë Ibn Mes'udi - dhe njerëzit përmendën një burrë dhe folën për moralin e tij. Atëherë Abdullahu tha: "A mendoni se po t'ia pritnit kokën, a do të mund ta kthenit atë?" Ata thanë: "Jo." Ai tha: "Po dorën e tij?" Ata thanë: "Jo." Ai tha: "Po këmbën e tij?" Ata thanë: "Jo."
