- وَعَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ قَالَ: «اجْتَمَعْتُ أَنَا وَطَاوُسٌ
الْيَمَانِيُّ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ وَمَكْحُولٌ الشَّامِيُّ
وَالْحَسَنُ الْبَصْرِيُّ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْخِيفِ، فَتَذَاكَرْنَا الْقَدَرَ
حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُنَا وَكَثُرَ لَغَطُنَا، فَقَامَ طَاوُسٌ
فَقَالَ: أَنْصِتُوا أُخْبِرْكُمْ مَا سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ
يُخْبِرُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - ﷺ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ افْتَرَضَ عَلَيْكُمْ
فَرَائِضَ فَلَا تُضَيِّعُوهَا، وَحَدَّ حُدُودًا فَلَا تَعْتَدُوهَا،
وَنَهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ فَلَا تَنْتَهِكُوهَا، وَسَكَتَ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ
مِنْ غَيْرِ نِسْيَانٍ فَلَا تَكَلَّفُوهَا، رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ،
فَاقْبَلُوهَا، الْأُمُورُ كُلُّهَا بِيَدِ اللَّهِ، مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ
مَصْدَرُهَا، وَإِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُهَا، لَيْسَ لِلْعِبَادِ فِيهَا تَفْوِيضٌ
وَلَا مَشِيئَةٌ "، فَقَامَ الْقَوْمُ جَمِيعًا وَهُمْ رَاضُونَ بِمَا
قَالَ طَاوُسٌ».
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ، وَفِيهِ نَهْشَلُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ.

11899 - And from Al-Dahhak ibn Muzahim, who said: "I, Tawus al-Yamani, Amr ibn Dinar, Makhul al-Shami, and Al-Hasan al-Basri gathered in Masjid al-Khif, and we discussed predestination until our voices rose and our clamor increased. Then Tawus stood up and said: 'Be silent, and I shall inform you of what I heard Abu al-Darda reporting from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh): "Indeed, Allah has ordained obligations for you, so do not neglect them; He has set boundaries, so do not transgress them; He has forbidden you from things, so do not violate them; and He has remained silent about things, not out of forgetfulness, so do not burden yourselves with them, as a mercy from your Lord, so accept it. All matters are in the Hand of Allah; from Allah is their source, and to Him is their return. The servants have no delegation of authority nor independent will therein."' So the people all stood up, and they were satisfied with what Tawus had said."

- Dhe nga ed-Dahhak bin Muzahim, i cili ka thënë: «U mblodhëm unë, Tawus el-Jemani, Amr bin Dinar, Makhul esh-Shami dhe el-Hasan el-Basriu në xhaminë el-Hif, dhe diskutuam për kaderin (paracaktimin) derisa u ngritën zërat tanë dhe u shtuan zhurmat tona. Atëherë u ngrit Tawusi dhe tha: Heshtni, t'ju tregoj atë që kam dëgjuar Ebu ed-Derdaun duke treguar nga i Dërguari i Allahut - (s.a.v.s.): "Vërtet Allahu u ka bërë obligim disa detyra, andaj mos i lini pas dore; ka caktuar kufij, andaj mos i tejkaloni; u ka ndaluar disa gjëra, andaj mos i shkelni ato; dhe ka heshtur për disa gjëra, jo nga harresa, andaj mos u ngarkoni me to, si mëshirë nga Zoti juaj, prandaj pranojeni atë. Të gjitha çështjet janë në dorën e Allahut, prej Allahut është burimi i tyre dhe tek Ai është kthimi i tyre. Robërit nuk kanë në to as delegim dhe as vullnet", dhe i gjithë populli u ngrit duke qenë të kënaqur me atë që tha Tawusi».
E ka transmetuar et-Taberaniu në 'el-Evsat', dhe në të është Nehshel bin Said et-Tirmidhiu, i cili është i braktisur (metruk).
