#13914 13914 - And from Al-Hasan ibn al-Zubayr al-Asadi, who said: Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said one day to Ibn Abbas: "Tell me a narration that would please me." He said: Khuraym ibn Fatik al-Asadi narrated to me, saying: "I went out in search of some camels belonging to me and found them at al-Abraq, the Abraq of al-Azaf. I hobbled them and reclined upon the arm of one of the camels. This was during the early period of the Prophet's (pbuh) emergence. I then said: 'I seek refuge in the chief of this valley, I seek refuge in the great one of this valley'—the narrator noted: and that is what they used to do during the Pre-Islamic period—suddenly an unseen caller cried out, saying:
'Woe to you! Seek refuge in Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, the Sender down of the forbidden and the permissible.
And declare the Oneness of Allah and do not fear whatever terrors the Jinn may possess.
For whenever Allah is mentioned across the miles, and in the plains of the earth and the mountains,
The schemes of the Jinn fall into ruin, except for piety and righteous deeds.'
He said: I replied:
'O caller, what is it that you refer to? Is it guidance you have or misguidance?'
He said:
'This is the Messenger of Allah, the possessor of all goodness; he has come with Yasin and the Ha-Mim chapters,
And with subsequent short chapters, containing prohibitions and permissions.
He commands fasting and prayer, and restrains people from evil deeds,
Which used to be abominations in the past.'
He said: I asked: 'Who are you, may Allah have mercy on you?' He said: 'I am Malik, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) sent me over the Jinn of the people of Najd.' He said: I said: 'If I had someone who could look after my camels for me, I would go to him until I believe in him.' He said: 'I will look after them for you until I deliver them safely to your family, if Allah wills.' So I mounted a camel from among them and then came to Medina. I reached the people on Friday while they were in prayer, so I said: 'They will finish their prayer and then I shall enter.' He said: While I was making my riding camel kneel, Abu Dharr (may Allah have mercy on him) came out to me and said: 'The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) says to you: "Enter".' So I entered, and when he saw me, he said: 'What did the old man do, the one who guaranteed to you that he would deliver your camels? Indeed, he has delivered them safely.' He said: I said: 'May Allah have mercy on him.' He said: The Prophet (pbuh) said: 'Yes, may Allah have mercy on him.' Then I said: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.'"
