- وَعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: أَتَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ
مَسْعُودٍ - رَجُلَانِ وَأَنَا عِنْدُهُ، فَقَالَا: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ
الرَّحْمَنِ، كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ؟ فَقَرَأَهَا عَلَيْهِ
عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: إِنَّ أَبَا حَكِيمٍ أَقْرَأَنِيهَا
كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَقَرَأَ الْآخَرُ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ أَقْرَأَكَهَا؟ فَقَالَ:
عُمَرُ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: اقْرَأْ كَمَا أَقْرَأَكَ عُمَرُ، ثُمَّ
بَكَى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ دُمُوعَهُ تَحَدَّرَ فِي الْحَصَى،
ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ عُمَرَ كَانَ حِصْنًا حَصِينًا عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ،
يَدْخُلُ النَّاسُ فِيهِ وَلَا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ، وَإِنَّ الْحِصْنَ
أَصْبَحَ قَدِ انْثَلَمَ ; فَالنَّاسُ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ وَلَا
يَدْخُلُونَ ..

14466 - On the authority of Zayd ibn Wahb, who said: Two men came to Abd Allah—meaning Ibn Mas'ud—while I was with him, and they said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, how do you recite this verse?" So Abd Allah recited it to them, and one of the men said: "Abu Hakim taught me to recite it such and such." The other man then recited, and Abd Allah asked: "Who taught you to recite it?" He replied: "Umar." Abd Allah said: "Recite as Umar taught you to recite." Then Abd Allah wept until I saw his tears falling upon the pebbles. Then he said: "Indeed, Umar was a fortified fortress for Islam; people would enter into it and not leave it. But now, the fortress has been breached; so people are leaving it and not entering."
14466 - Dhe nga Zejd bin Vehbi transmetohet se ka thënë: Dy burra erdhën te Abdullah bin Mes'udi ndërsa unë isha tek ai, dhe i thanë: "O Ebu Abdurrahman, si e lexon këtë ajet?" Abdullahu ua lexoi atë, atëherë njëri burrë tha: "Ebu Hakimi ma ka lexuar kështu e kështu", ndërsa tjetri lexoi ndryshe. Abdullahu e pyeti: "Kush ta ka lexuar ty kështu?" Ai tha: "Omeri". Atëherë Abdullahu tha: "Lexo ashtu siç të ka mësuar Omeri", pastaj Abdullahu qau derisa i pashë lotët e tij duke rënë mbi guralecë, e pastaj tha: "Vërtet, Omeri ishte një kështjellë e fortë për Islamin, njerëzit hynin në të dhe nuk dilnin prej saj, por kështjella tashmë është çarë; njerëzit po dalin prej saj dhe nuk po hyjnë më."
