- عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ - قُلْتُ: صَوَابُهُ ابْنُ مَوْهَبٍ:
«أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ: اذْهَبْ قَاضِيًا، قَالَ:
أَوَتَعْفِينِي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ،؟ (قَالَ: اذْهَبْ فَاقْضِ
بَيْنَ النَّاسِ)، قَالَ: أَوَتَعْفِينِي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ،؟
قَالَ: عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا ذَهَبْتَ فَقَضَيْتَ، قَالَ: لَا
تَعْجَلْ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - ﷺ - يَقُولُ: " مَنِ اسْتَعَاذَ
بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ عَاذَ بِمُعَاذٍ ". (قَالَ: نَعَمْ). قَالَ: إِنِّي
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ قَاضِيًا، قَالَ: وَمَا يَمْنَعُكَ وَقَدْ
كَانَ أَبُوكَ يَقْضِي؟ قَالَ:
لِأَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - ﷺ -
يَقُولُ: " مَنْ كَانَ قَاضِيًا فَقَضَى بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِجَوْرٍ دَخَلَ
النَّارَ، وَمَنْ كَانَ قَاضِيًا فَقَضَى بِجَهْلٍ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ
النَّارِ، وَمَنْ كَانَ قَاضِيًا عَالِمًا فَقَضَى بِحَقٍّ أَوْ بِعَدْلٍ
سَأَلَ أَنْ يَنْقَلِبَ كَفَافًا» ". قُلْتُ: رَوَى التِّرْمِذِيُّ طَرَفًا
مِنْهُ، رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى فِي الْكَبِيرِ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ
إِلَّا أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَوْهَبٍ لَمْ أَجِدْ لَهُ سَمَاعًا مِنْ
عُثْمَانَ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.

17170 - From Abdullah ibn Wahb—I say: the correct name is Ibn Mawhab: That Uthman said to Ibn Umar: "Go and serve as a judge." He said: "Will you not excuse me, O Commander of the Faithful?" (He said: "Go and judge among the people.") He said: "Will you not excuse me, O Commander of the Faithful?" He said: "I have resolved upon you that you must go and judge." He said: "Do not be in haste; I heard the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) say: 'Whoever seeks refuge in Allah has indeed sought refuge in a sanctuary.'" (He said: "Yes.") He said: "I seek refuge in Allah from being a judge." He said: "What prevents you, while your father used to judge?" He said: "Because I heard the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) say: 'Whoever is a judge and judges among the people with injustice shall enter the Fire; and whoever is a judge and judges with ignorance shall be among the people of the Fire; and whoever is a judge who is knowledgeable and judges with truth or with justice, shall ask to depart break-even [with neither reward nor burden].'"

- Nga Abdullah bin Vehb - them: e saktë është Ibn Mevheb:
«Se Uthmani i tha Ibn Omerit: Shko si gjykatës. Ai tha: A më liron nga kjo, o prijës i besimtarëve? (Ai tha: Shko dhe gjyko mes njerëzve). Ai tha: A më liron nga kjo, o prijës i besimtarëve? Ai tha: Të urdhëroj prerazi që të shkosh e të gjykosh. Ai tha: Mos u nxito, e kam dëgjuar të Dërguarin e Allahut (s.a.v.s.) të thotë: "Kush kërkon mbrojtje te Allahu, ai vërtet ka kërkuar mbrojtje te Mbrojtësi më i Madh". (Ai tha: Po). Ai tha: Unë kërkoj mbrojtje te Allahu që të mos jem gjykatës. Ai tha: E çfarë të pengon ty, kur babai yt gjykonte? Ai tha:
Sepse e kam dëgjuar të Dërguarin e Allahut (s.a.v.s.) të thotë: "Kush është gjykatës dhe gjykon mes njerëzve me padrejtësi, do të hyjë në zjarr. Kush është gjykatës dhe gjykon me injorancë, do të jetë nga banorët e zjarrit. Dhe kush është gjykatës i ditur e gjykon me të vërtetën apo me drejtësi, ai kërkon që të shpëtojë baras (pa fitim e pa humbje)"». Them: Tirmidhiu ka transmetuar një pjesë të tij, e ka transmetuar Ebu Jala në "El-Kebir", dhe burrat e tij janë të besueshëm, përveç se për Abdullah bin Mevheb nuk kam gjetur dëshmi se ka dëgjuar drejtpërdrejt nga Uthmani, e Allahu e di më mirë.
