3 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, who said: 'Ubayd ibn al-Sabbaq informed me that Zayd ibn Thabit (ra) narrated to him, saying: "Abu Bakr (ra) sent for me after the slaughter of the people of al-Yamama, and behold, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra) was with him. He (Abu Bakr) said: 'This man (meaning 'Umar) came to me and informed me that the killing has intensified
(4) among the reciters of the Qur'an at this place—meaning on the day of al-Yamama—and I fear that the killing will intensify among the reciters of the Qur'an in other places, and thus much of the Qur'an will be lost. I am of the opinion that you should collect it.' I said to him—meaning to 'Umar—: 'How can we do something that the Messenger of Allah (saw) did not do?' 'Umar said to me: 'By Allah, it is good.' 'Umar kept on at me until Allah expanded my chest for that which He had expanded his chest, and I saw in it the same as what he saw
(5)."' (Abu Bakr said): 'And you are a wise young man, you used to write the Revelation for the Messenger of Allah (saw), and we do not suspect you, so collect it.'

3 - Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, na ka treguar Ibrahim bin Sa'di, nga ez-Zuhriu, i cili ka thënë: Më ka njoftuar Ubejd bin es-Sebbaku, se Zejd bin Thabiti (r.a.) i ka treguar atij duke thënë: «Ebu Bekri (r.a.) më dërgoi ftesë pas vrasjes së njerëzve në Jemame, dhe kur shkova te ai, aty ishte Omer bin el-Hatabi (r.a.). Ai (Ebu Bekri) tha: Ky (Omeri) më erdhi dhe më njoftoi se vrasja është shpeshtuar
(4) ndër lexuesit e Kuranit në këtë vend - domethënë në ditën e Jemames - dhe unë frikësohem se vrasja do të shpeshtohet ndër lexuesit e Kuranit edhe në vendet e tjera, e kështu do të humbasë Kurani. Unë kam menduar që ti ta mbledhësh atë. I thashë atij - domethënë Omerit: Si të bëjmë diçka që nuk e ka bërë i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.)? Omeri më tha: Për Allahun, kjo është mirësi. Omeri vazhdoi të këmbëngulte tek unë derisa Allahu ma hapi gjoksin tim për atë që ia kishte hapur gjoksin atij, dhe pashë në këtë çështje të njëjtën gjë që pa ai
(5)». (Ebu Bekri tha): Ti je një burrë i mençur, ti e ke shkruar shpalljen për të Dërguarin e Allahut (s.a.v.s.), ne nuk të dyshojmë, andaj mblidhe atë.
