21 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Matar al-Warraq, from Abdullah ibn Buraydah al-Aslami, from Yahya ibn Ya'mar, from Ibn Umar, he said: Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra) narrated to me, "that he was with the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) when a man came to him wearing two white, well-kept garments, of good appearance and manner. He said: 'May I draw near to you, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Draw near.' Then he said: 'May I draw near to you, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Draw near.' He continued to draw near until his knees were at the knees of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). Then he said: 'May I ask you?' He said: 'Ask.' He said: 'Inform me about Islam.' He said: 'The testimony that there is no god but Allah and that I am
(11) the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of prayer, the giving of zakat, the pilgrimage to the House, and the fasting of Ramadan.' He said: 'If I do that, am I a Muslim?' The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: 'Yes.' The man said to him: 'You have spoken the truth.' We began to wonder at his saying to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh): 'You have spoken the truth,' as if he knew more than him. Then he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, inform me about faith (Iman).' He said: 'Faith is that you believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the resurrection after death, Paradise, the Fire, and that you believe in the divine decree (Qadar), both its good and its evil.' He said: 'If I do that, am I a believer?' The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: 'Yes.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' We began to wonder at his saying to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh): 'You have spoken the truth.' Then he said: 'Inform me, what is excellence (Ihsan)?' He said: 'That you fear Allah as if you see Him, for if you do not see Him, He surely sees you.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' Then he said: 'Inform me about the Hour.' The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: 'The one questioned about it knows no more than the questioner; they are five things which no one knows except Allah: {Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain} the verse. The man said: 'You have spoken the truth.'

- Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Hammad bin Zejd, nga Matar el-Verrak, nga Abdullah bin Burejde el-Eslemi, nga Jahja bin Ja'mer, nga Ibn Umeri, i cili ka thënë:
Më ka treguar Umer bin el-Hattabi (r.a.), se ai ishte te i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) kur i erdhi një burrë që mbante veshur dy rroba të bardha e të pastra, me pamje dhe qëndrim të mirë, e i tha: A të afrohem, o i Dërguari i Allahut? Ai tha: Afrohu. Pastaj tha: A të afrohem, o i Dërguari i Allahut? Ai tha: Afrohu. Dhe nuk pushoi së afruari derisa gjunjët e tij ishin pranë gjunjëve të të Dërguarit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.), pastaj tha: Të pyes? Tha: Pyet. Tha: Më njofto për Islamin. Tha: Të dëshmosh se nuk ka zot tjetër përveç Allahut dhe se unë jam
(11) i Dërguari i Allahut, falja e namazit, dhënia e zeqatit, haxhi në Shtëpi dhe agjërimi i Ramazanit. Tha: Nëse e bëj këtë, a jam musliman? Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) tha: Po. Burri i tha: Ke thënë të vërtetën. Ne filluam të habitemi nga thënia e tij drejtuar të Dërguarit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.): Ke thënë të vërtetën, sikur ai dinte më shumë se ai. Pastaj tha: O i Dërguari i Allahut, më njofto për Imanin. Tha: Imani është të besosh në Allahun, engjëjt e Tij, librat e Tij, të dërguarit e Tij, ringjalljen pas vdekjes, Xhenetin, Zjarrin dhe të besosh në Kaderin (paracaktimin), të mirën dhe të keqen e tij. Tha: Nëse e bëj këtë, a jam besimtar? Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) tha: Po. Tha: Ke thënë të vërtetën. Ne filluam të habitemi nga thënia e tij drejtuar të Dërguarit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.): Ke thënë të vërtetën. Pastaj tha: Më njofto, çfarë është Ihsani? Tha: Ta kesh frikë Allahun sikur ta shihje Atë, sepse edhe nëse ti nuk e sheh Atë, Ai të sheh ty. Tha: Ke thënë të vërtetën. Pastaj tha: Më njofto për Orën (Kiametin). Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) tha: I pyeturi për të nuk di më shumë se pyetësi; ato janë pesë gjëra që nuk i di askush përveç Allahut: "Vërtet, te Allahu është dija e Orës, Ai e zbret shiun..." deri në fund të ajetit. Burri tha: Ke thënë të vërtetën.
