#32 32 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Mu'awiyah ibn Qurrah al-Muzani, who said: "I came to Madinah during the time of dried curd and clarified butter, and the Bedouins were bringing striped garments (al-burqan) to sell them. Suddenly, I saw a man with his gaze fixed, looking at the people, so I thought he was a stranger. I approached him and greeted him with Salam, and he returned it to me. He said to me: 'Are you from the people of this place?' I said: 'Yes.' So I sat with him and asked: 'Who are you from?' He said: 'From Hilal, and my name is Kahmas' - or he said: 'From Banu Salul, and my name is Kahmas' - then he said to me: 'Shall I not narrate to you a narration that I witnessed from Umar ibn al-Khattab?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'While we were sitting with him, a woman came and sat by him. She said: "O Commander of the Faithful, my husband's evil has increased, and his good has decreased." Umar (ra) said to her: "And who (17) is your husband?" She said: "Abu Salamah." He said: "That man is a man who has companionship (with the Prophet), and he is indeed a man of truth." Then Umar said to a man sitting with him: "Is it not so?" The man replied: "O Commander of the Faithful, we do not know him except as you have said." Umar said to a man: "Stand up and call him for me." The woman stood up when he sent for her husband and sat behind Umar. It was not long before they came together and sat before Umar. Umar said: "What do you say about this woman sitting behind me?" He said: "And who is this, O Commander of the Faithful?" He said: "This is your wife." He said: "And what is she saying?" He said: "She claims that your good has decreased and your evil has increased." He said: "Evil is what she said, O Commander of the Faithful! She is among the best of her women, the most well-clothed among them, and the most comfortable among them, but her stallion (husband) is meager (in wealth or intimacy)." Umar said: "What do you say?" She said: "He spoke the truth." So Umar stood up toward her with the whip and struck her with it, then said: "O enemy of herself! You ate his wealth, exhausted his youth, and then you started reporting what is not in him." She said: "O Commander of the Faithful, do not be hasty, for by Allah, I will never sit in this assembly again." Then he ordered three garments for her and said: "Take these for what I did to you, and beware of complaining about this old man." It is as if I am looking at her as she stood up with the garments. Then he turned to her husband and said: "Do not let what you saw me do to her lead you to treat her badly. Depart, both of you." The man said: "I would not do that." Then Umar said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) saying: 'The best of my nation is the generation I am from, then the second, then the third. Then a people will arise whose oaths precede their testimony; they testify without being asked to testify, and there will be clamor in their markets.'" He said: Kahmas said to me: "Do you fear that these people are among those?" Then Kahmas said to me: "I came to the Prophet (saw) and informed him of my Islam, then I was absent from him for a year. Then I came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, it is as if you do not recognize me?' He said: 'Yes.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have not broken my fast since I left you.' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said to him: 'And who ordered you to torture yourself? Fast one day of the month.' I said: 'Give me more.' He said: 'Then fast two days,' until he said: 'Then fast three days of the month.'"

Omeri (r.a.) i tha: Kush është (17) burri yt? Ajo tha: Ebu Seleme. Shkoni. Burri tha: Nuk do ta bëja kurrë këtë. I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) i tha: Kush të urdhëroi ta mundosh veten? Agjëro një ditë në muaj. Thashë: Më shto. Tha: Agjëro dy ditë. Derisa tha: Agjëro tri ditë në muaj.»
