344 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Hudayj ibn Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Utbah, from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (saw) sent us to the Negus, and we were eighty men, including Ja'far ibn Abi Talib and 'Uthman ibn Maz'un. The Quraysh sent 'Umarah
(70) and 'Amr ibn al-'As, and they sent a gift with them to the Negus. When they entered upon him, they prostrated to him and handed him the gift, saying: 'Some people from our folk have turned away from our religion and have settled in your land.' He asked: 'Where are they?' They replied: 'They are in your land.' So the Negus sent for them."
He said: Ja'far said: "I am your spokesman today," so they followed him until they entered upon the Negus, but they did not prostrate to him. He asked: "What is the matter with you that you do not prostrate to the King?" He replied: "Indeed, Allah (azwj) sent His Prophet (saw) to us, and he commanded us not to prostrate to anyone except Allah." The Negus asked: "And what is that?" So he was informed. Then 'Amr ibn al-'As said: "They disagree with you regarding Jesus." He asked: "What do you say about Jesus and his mother?" He replied: "We say as Allah (azwj) said: He is the Spirit of Allah and His Word which He bestowed upon the virgin maiden, whom no man has touched, and no child has burdened her." The Negus picked up a stick and said: "O assembly of priests and monks, what these people say does not exceed [the truth] by the weight of this [stick]. Welcome to you and to the one from whom you have come. I bear witness that he is a Prophet, and I wish I were with him so I could carry his sandals," or he said: "serve him. Settle wherever you wish in my land." Then Ibn Mas'ud came and hastened, and he witnessed Badr.

344 - Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Hudijxh bin Muavije, nga Ebu Is'haku, nga Abdullah bin Utbe, nga Abdullah bin Mes'udi, i cili ka thënë: «Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) na dërgoi te Nexhashiu, e ne ishim tetëdhjetë burra, e me ne ishte Xhafer bin Ebu Talibi dhe Uthman bin Madh'uni. Kurse Kurejshët dërguan Umaren
(70) dhe Amr bin el-Asin, dhe dërguan bashkë me ta një dhuratë për Nexhashiun. Kur ata të dy hynë tek ai, i bënë sexhde atij dhe ia dorëzuan dhuratën, e pastaj i thanë: Disa njerëz nga populli ynë janë larguar nga feja jonë dhe janë vendosur në tokën tënde. Ai tha: Ku janë ata? Ata thanë: Janë në tokën tënde. Atëherë Nexhashiu dërgoi t'i thërrasë ata. Xhaferi tha: Unë jam zëdhënësi juaj sot. Ata e ndoqën atë derisa hynë te Nexhashiu, por nuk i bënë sexhde atij. Ai tha: Çfarë keni që nuk i bëni sexhde mbretit? Ai (Xhaferi) tha: Allahu i Madhëruar na dërgoi Pejgamberin e Tij (s.a.v.s.) dhe na urdhëroi që të mos i bëjmë sexhde askujt përveç Allahut. Nexhashiu tha: E çfarë është ajo (fe)? Atëherë ai e njoftoi. Amr bin el-Asi tha: Ata të kundërshtojnë ty në lidhje me Isain. Ai (Nexhashiu) tha: Çfarë thoni ju për Isain dhe nënën e tij? Ai (Xhaferi) tha: Ne themi ashtu siç ka thënë Allahu i Madhëruar: Ai është shpirti i Allahut dhe fjala e Tij, të cilën ia dërgoi Virgjëreshës së pastër, të cilën nuk e ka prekur asnjë njeri dhe nuk ka lindur fëmijë (në rrugë njerëzore). Atëherë Nexhashiu mori një fije shkrepëse (ose një thupër) dhe tha: O ju priftërinj dhe murgj, këta nuk shtojnë asgjë më shumë se ajo që thoni ju, as sa pesha e kësaj (fijeje). Mirë se vini ju dhe ai prej të cilit keni ardhur! Unë dëshmoj për të se ai është Pejgamber, dhe do të dëshiroja të isha pranë tij që t'ia mbathja nallanet e tij, ose tha: t'i shërbeja atij. Vendosuni ku të dëshironi në tokën time. Pastaj erdhi Ibn Mes'udi, nxitoi dhe mori pjesë në Bedër.»
