779 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Zubayd, he said: I heard al-Sha'bi narrating from al-Bara' that the Messenger of Allah (saw) delivered a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice and said: "The first thing we begin
(169) in this day of ours is to pray, then we return and sacrifice." So whoever does that has followed our Sunnah, and whoever slaughters before the prayer, it is only meat he has presented to his family; it is not part of the ritual sacrifice at all. Then my maternal uncle Abu Burdah bin Niyar stood up, and he had slaughtered before the prayer, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have a young goat (Jadha'ah) that is dearer to me than an older sheep (Musinnah)!" He said: "Sacrifice it, but it will not be sufficient - or suffice - for anyone after you."

779 - Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Shube, nga Zubejdi, i cili ka thënë: E kam dëgjuar Esh-Sha'biun duke treguar nga El-Berai se i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) mbajti hutbe në ditën e kurbanit dhe tha: «Gjëja e parë me të cilën e fillojmë
(169) këtë ditë tonën është të falemi, pastaj të kthehemi e të therrim kurbanin.» Kush vepron kështu, ai ka qëlluar sunetin tonë, ndërsa kush therr para namazit, ai është vetëm mish që ia ka ofruar familjes së tij, nuk ka asgjë nga kurbani (adhurimi). Atëherë u ngrit daja im, Ebu Burde bin Nijar, i cili kishte therrur para namazit, dhe tha: O i Dërguari i Allahut, unë kam një qengj (gjedhe) që është më i dashur për mua se një dele e rritur! Ai tha: Therre atë, por nuk do të vlejë – ose nuk do të mjaftojë – për askënd pas teje.
