907 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: Ali ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah, who said: "We went as a delegation to Mu'awiyah with Ziyad, and Abu Bakrah was with us. We entered upon him, and Mu'awiyah said to him: 'Narrate to us a hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah (saw), perhaps Allah will benefit us by it.' He said: 'Yes, the Prophet of Allah (saw) used to like good dreams and would ask about them. A man said
(199): "O Messenger of Allah, I saw a dream; I saw as if a scale was lowered from the sky. You and Abu Bakr were weighed, and you outweighed Abu Bakr. Then Abu Bakr was weighed against Umar, and Abu Bakr outweighed Umar. Then Umar was weighed against Uthman, and Umar outweighed Uthman. Then the scale was raised!" The Messenger of Allah (saw) was displeased by it, then he said: "A Caliphate of Prophethood, then Allah gives the kingdom to whom He wills."' Mu'awiyah became angry and we were pushed by our necks and expelled. Ziyad said to Abu Bakrah: 'Could you not find any hadith from the Messenger of Allah (saw) to narrate other than this?' He said: 'By Allah, I will not narrate to him except this until I leave him.' He said: Ziyad kept seeking permission until we were allowed in again. Mu'awiyah said: 'O Abu Bakrah, narrate to us a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (saw), perhaps Allah will benefit us by it!' He said: 'So I narrated to him the same as the first hadith.' Mu'awiyah said to him: 'May you have no father! You are telling us that we are kings! We are satisfied to be kings.'

907 - Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Hammad bin Seleme, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Ali bin Zejd, nga Abdurrahman bin Ebu Bekre, i cili ka thënë: «Shkuam si delegacion te Muaviu bashkë me Zijadin, dhe me ne ishte Ebu Bekre. Hymë tek ai dhe Muaviu i tha: Na trego një hadith që e ke dëgjuar nga i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.), mbase Allahu na bën dobi me të. Ai tha: Po, Pejgamberit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.) i pëlqenin ëndrrat e mira dhe pyeste për to. Atëherë një burrë
(199) tha: O i Dërguari i Allahut, unë pashë një ëndërr. Pashë sikur një peshore u lëshua nga qielli; u peshove ti dhe Ebu Bekri, dhe ti peshove më rëndë se Ebu Bekri. Pastaj u peshua Ebu Bekri me Omerin, dhe Ebu Bekri peshoi më rëndë se Omeri. Pastaj u peshua Omeri me Osmanin, dhe Omeri peshoi më rëndë se Osmani. Pastaj peshorja u ngrit! I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) u hidhërua nga kjo, pastaj tha: Hilafet i pejgamberisë, pastaj Allahu ia jep pushtetin (mbretërinë) kujt të dojë. Muaviu u zemërua dhe na shtyu pas qafe duke na nxjerrë jashtë. Atëherë Zijadi i tha Ebu Bekres: A nuk gjetre nga hadithet e të Dërguarit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.) ndonjë hadith tjetër për t'ia treguar përveç këtij? Ai tha: Për Allahun, nuk do t'i tregoj tjetër përveç këtij derisa të ndahem prej tij. Tha: Zijadi vazhdoi të kërkonte leje derisa na u dha leja dhe hymë përsëri. Muaviu tha: O Ebu Bekre, na trego një hadith nga i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.), mbase Allahu na bën dobi me të! Tha: Ia tregova përsëri të njëjtin hadith si të parin. Atëherë Muaviu i tha: Paç babanë (shprehje)! Po na tregon se ne jemi mbretër! Ne jemi të kënaqur të jemi mbretër.»
