- Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Abu Ishaq informed us, he said: I heard Harithah ibn Mudarrib say: "We entered upon Khabbab and he had been cauterized. He said: 'I do not know of anyone who has encountered the affliction that I have encountered. I remained during the time of the Prophet (saw) not finding a single dirham, and yet in the corner of this house of mine there are forty thousand. Had it not been that the Messenger of Allah (saw) forbade us—or forbade anyone—from wishing for death, I would have wished for it.'"
