1206 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Nu'man ibn Salim, from Aws ibn Aws al-Thaqafi
(228) - and he was among the delegation - he said: "I was with the Prophet (saw) in a dome-shaped tent, and there was no one from the people awake except me. A man came and whispered to him, so he said: 'Go and kill him.' Then he called him back and said: 'Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. If they testify to it, they have protected their blood and their wealth - or he said: they are protected - except by its right.'"

- i cili ishte në delegacion - ka thënë: «Isha me Pejgamberin (s.a.v.s.) në një tendë dhe askush nga njerëzit nuk ishte zgjuar përveç meje. Atëherë erdhi një burrë dhe i pëshpëriti diçka, e ai tha: Shko dhe vrite atë. Pastaj e thirri dhe i tha: A nuk dëshmon ai se nuk ka zot tjetër përveç Allahut dhe se unë jam i Dërguari i Allahut? Tha: Po. Ai tha: Unë jam urdhëruar t'i luftoj njerëzit derisa të dëshmojnë se nuk ka zot tjetër përveç Allahut dhe se unë jam i Dërguari i Allahut. Kur ta dëshmojnë këtë, ata kanë mbrojtur gjakun dhe pasurinë e tyre - ose tha: janë mbrojtur - përveç me të drejtë».
