#1337 1337 - Yunus narrated to us, he said: Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Zuhri, from Mahmud ibn al-Rabi', from 'Itban ibn Malik al-Salimi, who said: "I used to lead my people, Bani Salim, in prayer. Whenever the floods came, it became difficult for me to cross a valley between me and the mosque. So I came to the Messenger of Allah (saw) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, it is difficult for me to cross it. If you see fit to come to me and pray in my house, in a place I can take as a prayer area!' He said: 'I will do so.' He came to me the next morning, and I detained him for some Khazirah (a dish of meat and flour). When he entered, he did not sit until he said: 'Where would you like me to pray in your house?' I pointed to the place where I pray, and he prayed two rak'ahs. The men of the Ansar heard that the Messenger of Allah (saw) was in my house, so they started coming until they became many. A man from the household said: 'What happened to Malik ibn al-Dukhshum?' Another man from the household said: 'That is a hypocrite who does not love Allah and His Messenger!' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'Does he not say: There is no god but Allah?' They said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best, but as for us, we do not see his affection or his conversation except with the hypocrites!' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'Indeed, Allah (azwj) has forbidden the Fire for whoever says: There is no god but Allah, seeking thereby the face of Allah.'

Mahmud said: I narrated this hadith in a gathering where Abu Ayyub al-Ansari was present in the land of the Romans during the campaign of Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah. Abu Ayyub denied that to me and said: 'I do not think the Messenger of Allah (saw) ever said this.'

Mahmud said: So I vowed that if Allah returned me safely, I would ask 'Itban ibn Malik about this hadith in the mosque of his people if he were still alive. So I commenced the Ihram for Umrah from Iliya (Jerusalem), then I arrived in Madinah and found 'Itban as an old man, blind, leading his people in prayer. I introduced myself to him and he recognized me—or he said: I asked him about this hadith, and he narrated it to me just as he had narrated it the first time."

Al-Zuhri said: "And we believe that this was before the obligatory duties (Mujibat al-Umur) were revealed. For indeed, matters were revealed that we found the scholars considering them as such. So whoever among you is able not to be deceived, let him not be deceived. We fear that the matter has become tied to them; indeed, Allah (azwj) has imposed upon the people of this statement (the Shahada) matters that we fear the ruling has become tied to."

Ai tha: Do ta bëj. I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: A nuk thotë ai 'La ilahe il-lAllah'?
