حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ نَافِعٍ، مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى إِذَا كَانُوا بِبَعْضِ طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ تَخَلَّفَ مَعَ أَصْحَابٍ لَهُ مُحْرِمِينَ وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُحْرِمٍ فَرَأَى حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا فَاسْتَوَى عَلَى فَرَسِهِ فَسَأَلَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يُنَاوِلُوهُ سَوْطَهُ فَأَبَوْا عَلَيْهِ فَسَأَلَهُمْ رُمْحَهُ فَأَبَوْا فَأَخَذَهُ ثُمَّ شَدَّ عَلَى الْحِمَارِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبَى بَعْضُهُمْ فَلَمَّا أَدْرَكُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سَأَلُوهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّمَا هِيَ طُعْمَةٌ أَطْعَمَكُمُوهَا اللَّهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
#812 Yahya related to me from Malik, from Abu'n-Nadr, the mawla of
'Umar ibn 'Ubaydullah at-Taymi, from Nafi, the mawla of Abu Qatada al-
Ansari, that Abu Qatada was once with the Messenger of Allah, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace. When they got to one of the roads
to Makka he fell behind with some companions of his who were muhrim,
while he was not. Then he saw a wild ass, so he got on his mount and
asked his companions to give him his whip but they refused. Then he
asked them for his spear and they refused to give it to him. So he
took hold of it and attacked the ass and killed it. Some of the
companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, ate from it, and others refused. When they had caught up
with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
they asked him about it and he said, "It is food that Allah has fed
you with."

Transmeton Ebu Katadeja: Ai ishte me të Dërguarin e Allahut (s.a.v.s.) dhe kur arritën në njërën prej rrugëve të Mekës, ai mbeti prapa me disa shokë të tij të cilët ishin muhrim, ndërsa ai vetë nuk ishte muhrim. Ai pa një gomar të egër, hipi mbi kalin e tij dhe u kërkoi shokëve t'ia jepnin kamxhikun, por ata refuzuan. Pastaj u kërkoi shtizën e tij, por ata përsëri refuzuan t'ia jepnin. Atëherë ai e mori vetë, e sulmoi gomarin dhe e vrau. Disa nga shokët e të Dërguarit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.) hëngrën prej tij, ndërsa të tjerët refuzuan. Kur u bashkuan me të Dërguarin e Allahut (s.a.v.s.), e pyetën atë rreth kësaj dhe ai tha: "Ky është një ushqim me të cilin Allahu ju ka ushqyer."
