#85 Al-Mu'alla ibn Asad informed us, Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Mujahid, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) passed by two graves and said: "Verily, they are both being punished in their graves, and they are not being punished for something that was difficult to avoid. One of them used to go about with calumny, and the other used not to protect himself from urine." He said: "Then he took a fresh palm branch and broke it, and he planted a piece at the head of each grave." Then he said: "Perhaps their punishment will be lightened for them so long as these branches do not dry up."
