#126 Ahmad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yunus informed us, Al-Layth ibn Sa'd narrated to us, on the authority of Nafi', on the authority of Sulayman ibn Yasar, that a man informed him, on the authority of Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet (pbuh): that a woman used to bleed profusely during the time of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), so Umm Salama sought a religious ruling for her from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said to her: "She should observe the number of nights and days she used to menstruate before she was afflicted by what has happened to her, and their timing within the month; she should then refrain from prayer for that duration. Once she has passed that and the prayer time arrives, she should perform a ritual bath, bind herself with a cloth, and then pray."
