#242 Abd al-Samad ibn Abd al-Warith informed us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Abu Bishr narrated to us, who said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr saying: A woman wrote to Ibn Abbas and Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both): "I suffer from prolonged vaginal bleeding (Istihadah) and I do not become pure, and I implore you by Allah to provide me with a legal verdict; for I have asked about this, and they said: Ali used to say: 'She should perform a ritual bath (Ghusl) for every prayer.'" He [Sa'id] said: So I read [the letter] and I wrote the reply with my own hand: "I find nothing for her except what Ali said." It was said: "Indeed, Kufa is a cold land." He replied: "If Allah willed, He could have afflicted her with something more severe than that." Hajjaj ibn Minhal informed us, Hammad narrated to us, from Qays, from Mujahid, who said: It was said to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Indeed, her land is a cold land." So he said: "She should delay Dhuhr and hasten Asr and perform one ritual bath, and she should delay Maghrib and hasten Isha and perform one ritual bath, and she should perform one ritual bath for Fajr."
