#622 Sa'id ibn 'Amir informed us, 'Awf related to us, on the authority of Sayyar ibn Salamah, who said: I entered with my father upon Abu Barzah al-Aslami while he was in an upper room made of reeds. My father asked him about the timing of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), and he said: "He used to pray the midday prayer (al-Hajir), which you call Dhuhr, when the sun had declined. He used to pray 'Asr, and then one of us would return to his family at the furthest part of Madinah while the sun was still bright." He [Sayyar] said: "And I forgot what he mentioned regarding Maghrib. And he preferred to delay the 'Isha' prayer, which you call al-'Atamah. He used to finish the Subh prayer when a man could recognize his companion, and he used to recite in it between sixty to a hundred verses."
