#1040 Abdullah bin Salih informed us, Bakr—who is Ibn Mudar—narrated to me, from 'Amr bin al-Harith, from Yazid, the freed slave of Salamah bin al-Akwa', from Salamah, that he said: "When this verse was revealed: {And upon those who are able [to fast] – a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person} [Surah Al-Baqarah: 184], he said: 'Whoever wished to break his fast and pay the ransom did so, until the verse following it was revealed and abrogated it.'"
