أَخْبَرَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ نَائِمًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ وَهُوَ نَائِمٌ، فَاسْتَلَّ رِدَاءَهُ مِنْ تَحْتِ رَأْسِهِ، فتَنَبَّهَ بِهِ، فَلَحِقَهُ فَأَخَذَهُ فَانْطَلَقَ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كُنْتُ نَائِمًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَأَتَانِي هَذَا فَاسْتَلَّ رِدَائِي مِنْ تَحْتِ رَأْسِي، فَلَحِقْتُهُ فَأَخَذْتُهُ، فَأَمَرَ بِقَطْعِهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ صَفْوَانُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ رِدَائِي لَمْ يَبْلُغْ أَنْ يُقْطَعَ فِيهِ هَذَا؟ قَالَ :" فَهَلَّا، قَبْلَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَنِي بِهِ؟ "
#1577 Sa'd ibn Hafs informed us, Shayban narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: Safwan ibn Umayyah was sleeping in the mosque when a man came to him while he was asleep and pulled his cloak from under his head. He became aware of it, pursued him, and caught him. He then took him to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I was sleeping in the mosque, and this man came to me and pulled my cloak from under my head; so I pursued him and caught him." He (the Prophet) then ordered that his hand be cut off. Safwan said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, did my cloak reach a value for which this man's hand should be cut?" He (pbuh) said: "Why did you not [pardon him] before bringing him to me?"

Transmeton Ibn Abbasi: Safuan bin Umeje ishte duke fjetur në xhami, kur një burrë erdhi dhe ia mori pelerinën nga poshtë kokës. Ai u zgjua, e ndoqi dhe e kapi atë, pastaj e dërgoi te i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.). Safuani tha: "O i Dërguari i Allahut, isha duke fjetur në xhami kur erdhi ky njeri dhe ma mori pelerinën nga poshtë kokës. Unë e ndoqa dhe e zura." Atëherë, i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) urdhëroi që t'i pritej dora. Safuani i tha: "O i Dërguari i Allahut, pelerina ime nuk e meriton që për të t'i pritet dora këtij njeriu?" Ai (s.a.v.s.) i tha: "Pse nuk e fale para se të ma sillje tek unë?"
