#1888 Ishaq ibn Ibrahim informed us, Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'd informed us, from Muhammad ibn 'Ikrimah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Labibah, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, who said: We used to rent out land during the time of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) for what grows along the irrigation channels and for what was watered by the runoff of the water from them. So the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) forbade us from that, and he permitted us—or he said: he granted us a concession—to rent it out for gold and silver.
