حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ :" لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَوْتَ : إِمَّا مُحْسِنًا، فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ، إِحْسَانًا، وَإِمَّا مُسِيئًا، فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَسْتَعْتِبَ "
#2025 Al-Hakam ibn Nafi' narrated to us, Shu'ayb informed me, from Az-Zuhri, who said: Abu 'Ubayd, the freed slave of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, informed me that Abu Hurayrah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) saying: "None of you should wish for death: for either he is a doer of good, and perhaps he may increase in his good deeds, or he is an evildoer, and perhaps he may seek to make amends."
