حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ : أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ لَمَّا طُعِنَ، اسْتَشَارَهُمْ فِي الْجَدِّ، فَقَالَ :" إِنِّي كُنْتُ رَأَيْتُ فِي الْجَدِّ رَأْيًا، فَإِنْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنْ تَتَّبِعُوهُ، فَاتَّبِعُوهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُثْمَانُ : إِنْ نَتَّبِعْ رَأْيَكَ فَإِنَّهُ رَشَدٌ، وَإِنْ نَتَّبِعْ رَأْيَ الشَّيْخِ، فَنِعْمَ ذُو الرَّأْيِ كَانَ
#2177 Muslim bin Ibrahim narrated to us, Wuhaib narrated to us, Hisham bin Urwah narrated to us, from his father, from Marwan bin al-Hakam: That when Umar bin al-Khattab was stabbed, he consulted them regarding the grandfather. He said: "I had indeed formed an opinion regarding the grandfather; if you see fit to follow it, then follow it." Uthman said to him: "If we follow your opinion, then it is right guidance, and if we follow the opinion of the Sheikh, then what an excellent possessor of opinion he was."
