أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو اللَّيْثِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَأْكُلُ الْهَدِيَّةَ، وَلَا يَقْبَلُ الصَّدَقَةَ، فَأَهْدَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ يَهُودِ خَيْبَرَ شَاةً مَصْلِيَّةً، فَتَنَاوَلَ مِنْهَا، وَتَنَاوَلَ مِنْهَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْبَرَاءِ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ :" إِنَّ هَذِهِ تُخْبِرُنِي أَنَّهَا مَسْمُومَةٌ "، فَمَاتَ بِشْرُ بْنُ الْبَرَاءِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا حَمَلَكِ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتِ؟ "، فَقَالَتْ : إِنْ كُنْتَ نَبِيًّا لَمْ يَضُرَّكَ شَيْءٌ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ مَلِكًا، أَرَحْتُ النَّاسَ مِنْكَ، فَقَالَ : فِي مَرَضِهِ : " مَا زِلْتُ مِنْ الْأَكْلَةِ الَّتِي أَكَلْتُ بِخَيْبَرَ، فَهَذَا أَوَانُ انْقِطَاعِ أَبْهَرِي "
#2824 Jafar ibn 'Awn informed us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr al-Laythi informed us, from Abu Salamah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) used to eat gifts and would not accept charity. A woman from the Jews of Khaybar gave him a roasted sheep as a gift, and he partook of it, and Bishr ibn al-Bara' also partook of it. Then the Prophet (pbuh) raised his hand and said: "Indeed, this [sheep] informs me that it is poisoned." Bishr ibn al-Bara' died, so the Prophet (pbuh) sent for her and asked: "What induced you to do what you did?" She replied: "If you were a prophet, nothing would harm you, and if you were a king, I would have relieved the people of you." He said during his illness: "I have continued to feel the effect of the morsel I ate at Khaybar, and this is the time when my aorta is being severed."

I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) e hante dhuratën, por nuk e pranonte sadakanë. Një grua nga hebrenjtë e Hajberit i dhuroi atij një dele të pjekur, prej së cilës hëngri ai dhe Bishr bin el-Bera. Pastaj Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) e tërhoqi dorën e tij dhe tha: "Kjo po më njofton se është e helmuar." Bishr bin el-Bera vdiq, ndërsa Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) e thirri gruan dhe e pyeti: "Çfarë të shtyu ta bësh këtë?" Ajo tha: "Nëse je pejgamber, nuk do të të dëmtonte asgjë, e nëse je mbret, do t'i çlodhja njerëzit prej teje." Gjatë sëmundjes së tij, ai tha: "Vazhdimisht e kam ndjerë efektin e asaj ngrënieje që konsumova në Hajber; kjo është koha kur po më këputet aorta."
