Hadith #2853 - Sunan ad-Darimi

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : كَانَ مَنْ مَضَى مِنْ عُلَمَائِنَا يَقُولُونَ :" الِاعْتِصَامُ بِالسُّنَّةِ نَجَاةٌ، وَالْعِلْمُ يُقْبَضُ قَبْضًا سَرِيعًا، فَنَعْشُ الْعِلْمِ ثَبَاتُ الدِّينِ وَالدُّنْيَا، وَفِي ذَهَابِ الْعِلْمِ ذَهَابُ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ "

#2853 Abu al-Mughirah informed us, al-Awza'i narrated to us, from Yunus bin Yazid, from az-Zuhri, who said: "Those who have passed among our scholars used to say: 'Adherence to the Sunnah is salvation, and knowledge will be taken away rapidly; thus, the revival of knowledge is the stability of religion and the world, and in the disappearance of knowledge is the disappearance of all that.'"
