أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ" إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ الْأَمْرِ فَكَانَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ، أَخْبَرَ بِهِ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَكَانَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَخْبَرَ بِهِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ، فَعَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ، قَالَ فِيهِ بِرَأْيِهِ "
#2923 Abdullah bin Muhammad informed us: Ibn Uyaynah narrated to us, from Ubaydullah bin Abi Yazid, who said: Whenever Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about a matter and it was in the Quran, he would inform of it; if it was not in the Quran but was from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), he would inform of it; if it was not, then from Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them); and if it was not, he would state his own opinion regarding it.

Transmetohet nga Ibn Abbasi: Kur ai pyetej për ndonjë çështje, nëse ajo gjendej në Kuran, ai jepte përgjigje sipas tij. Nëse ajo nuk gjendej në Kuran, por ishte nga i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.), ai tregonte për të. Nëse nuk gjendej as aty, ai jepte përgjigje sipas asaj që kishin thënë Ebu Bekri dhe Omeri. E nëse as aty nuk gjendej, ai jepte mendimin e tij personal.
