#2988 Isma' b. al-Fadl informed us, Harami b. 'Umarah narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from 'Umar b. Sulayman, from 'Abd al-Rahman b. Aban b. 'Uthman, from his father, who said: Zayd b. Thabit came out from Marwan b. al-Hakam at midday. He said: So I said: "He did not come out from Marwan at this hour except that he had asked him about something." So I went to him and asked him, and he said: "Yes, he asked me about a Hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), who said: 'May Allah brighten a man who hears a Hadith from us, preserves it, and conveys it to someone who is more retentive of it than himself. For perhaps a carrier of knowledge is not a person of understanding, and perhaps a carrier of knowledge conveys it to one who has more understanding than him. The heart of a Muslim does not hold firm to three traits except that he enters Paradise.'" He said: I asked: "What are they?" He said: "Sincerity of action for Allah, sincere advice to those in authority, and adhering to the community, for their supplication encompasses those behind them. And whoever makes the Hereafter his intention, Allah places his richness in his heart, gathers his affairs for him, and the world comes to him submissively. But whoever makes the world his intention, Allah scatters his affairs, places his poverty between his eyes, and nothing of the world comes to him except what has been decreed for him.'" He (the narrator) said: "And I asked him about the middle prayer, and he said: 'It is the Dhuhr prayer.'"
