#3057 Ismail bin Aban informed us, from Yaqub al-Qummi, who said: Layth bin Abi Sulaim narrated to me, from Yahya—who is Ibn Abbad—from Ali bin Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: "Indeed, the jurist, the true jurist, is the one who does not cause people to despair of the mercy of Allah, does not grant them licenses to commit acts of disobedience against Allah, does not make them feel secure from the punishment of Allah, and does not abandon the Quran out of a preference for something else. Verily, there is no good in worship that contains no knowledge, nor in knowledge that contains no understanding, nor in recitation that contains no reflection."
