أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ مَيْمُونُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ :" إِيَّاكَ وَالْخُصُومَةَ وَالْجِدَالَ فِي الدِّينِ، وَلَا تُجَادِلَنَّ عَالِمًا، وَلَا جَاهِلًا، أَمَّا الْعَالِمُ، فَإِنَّهُ يَخْزَنُ عَنْكَ عِلْمَهُ، وَلَا يُبَالِي مَا صَنَعْتَ، وَأَمَّا الْجَاهِلُ، فَإِنَّهُ يُخَشِّنُ بِصَدْرِكَ وَلَا يُطِيعُكَ "
#3062 We were informed by Sa'id ibn 'Amir, from Isma'il ibn Ibrahim, from Yunus, who said: Maymun ibn Mihran wrote to me: "Beware of disputation and argumentation in religion, and do not argue with a scholar nor an ignorant person. As for the scholar, he will withhold his knowledge from you and will not care what you have done. As for the ignorant person, he will cause harshness in your heart and will not obey you."
