#3094 Ja'far ibn 'Awn informed us, Abu 'Umays informed us, from 'Awn, who said: Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Two insatiable ones are never satisfied: the seeker of knowledge and the seeker of the worldly life, and they are not equal. As for the seeker of knowledge, he increases in pleasing the Most Merciful, and as for the seeker of the worldly life, he persists in transgression." Then Abdullah recited: "No! Indeed, man transgresses, because he sees himself self-sufficient" (Surah Al-Alaq, verses 6-7). He said: And regarding the other, it says: "It is only those who have knowledge among His servants that fear Allah" (Surah Fatir, verse 28).
