أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ هَارُونَ بْنَ عَنْتَرَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْنَا أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ لِنَتَحَدَّثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ قُمْنَا، وَنَحْنُ نَمْشِي خَلْفَهُ، فَرَهَقَنَا عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَتَبِعَهُ فَضَرَبَهُ عُمَرُ بِالدِّرَّةِ، قَالَ : فَاتَّقَاهُ بِذِرَاعَيْهِ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَا نَصْنَعُ؟، قَالَ :" أَوَ مَا تَرَى؟ فِتْنَةً لِلْمَتْبُوعِ، مَذَلَّةً لِلتَّابِعِ "
#3281 Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' informed us, Ibn Idris narrated to us, he said: I heard Harun ibn 'Antarah narrating from Sulaym ibn Hanzalah, who said: We came to Ubayy ibn Ka'b to converse with him. When he stood up, we stood up, and we were walking behind him. Then 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, overtook us, followed him, and 'Umar struck him with a whip. He said: So he shielded himself with his arms and said: "O Commander of the Faithful, what are we doing?" He said: "Do you not see? It is a trial for the one followed and a humiliation for the follower."

Transmeton Sulejm bin Hanzale: Shkuam te Ubej bin Ka'bi për të biseduar me të. Kur ai u ngrit, edhe ne u ngritëm dhe po ecnim pas tij. Atëherë na arriti Omeri (r.a.) dhe e goditi atë me kërbaç. Ai u mbrojt me krahët e tij dhe tha: "O Prijësi i Besimtarëve, çfarë po bëjmë?" Ai tha: "A nuk po e sheh? Kjo është fitne (sprovë) për atë që ndiqet dhe nënçmim për atë që ndjek."
