#3315 Ya'la informed us, Muhammad—who is Ibn Ishaq—narrated to us, from Musa ibn Yasar, from his uncle, who said: It reached me that Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him): "Indeed, knowledge is like springs frequented by people; this one draws from it and that one, and Allah benefits more than one person by it. Verily, wisdom that is not spoken is like a body in which there is no soul, and indeed, knowledge that is not brought forth is like a treasure from which nothing is spent. The example of the scholar is only like that of a man carrying a lamp on a dark path, by which anyone who passes by him is enlightened, and everyone supplicates for goodness for him."
