أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، كَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ، انْظُرْ مَا كَانَ مِنْ حَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، أَوْ سُنَّتِهِ، أَوْ حَدِيثِ عُمَرَ، أَوْ نَحْوِ هَذَا فَاكْتُبْهُ لِي، فَإِنِّي قَدْ خِفْتُ دُرُوسَ الْعِلْمِ، وَذَهَابَ الْعُلَمَاءِ. قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: وَبِهَذَا نَأْخُذُ، وَلا نَرَى بِكَتَابَةِ الْعِلْمِ بَأْسًا، وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ ﵀
#936 Malik informed us, Yahya bin Sa'id informed us, that Umar bin Abdul Aziz wrote to Abu Bakr bin Amr bin Hazm: "Look for whatever there is of the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), or his Sunnah, or the Hadith of Umar, or the like of this, and write it down for me, for indeed I fear the obliteration of knowledge and the passing away of the scholars."

Na ka treguar Maliku, na ka treguar Jahja bin Saidi, se Omer bin Abdul Azizi i ka shkruar Ebu Bekr bin Amr bin Hazmit: "Hulumto çfarëdo që ka nga hadithi i të Dërguarit të Allahut (s.a.v.s.), apo suneti i tij, apo hadithi i Omerit, apo diçka të ngjashme me këtë, dhe shkruaji ato për mua, sepse unë vërtet i druhem shuarjes së dijes dhe shkuarjes (vdekjes) së dijetarëve."
