#1746 Zuhayr bin Muhammad bin Qumayr narrated to us, Sadaqah bin Sabiq informed us, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said: Nafi' narrated to me, from Ibn Umar, from Umar bin al-Khattab, who said: When we gathered for the migration, I, Ayyash bin Abi Rabi'ah, and Hisham bin al-Aas made an appointment to meet at the washbasin of Bani Ghifar above Sarif. We said: "Whichever of you does not reach it by morning, he has been detained, so let his two companions proceed." Hisham bin al-Aas was detained from us, and when we arrived in Medina [we stayed among the Banu 'Amr bin 'Awf. Abu Jahl bin Hisham and al-Harith bin Hisham went out to Ayyash bin Abi Rabi'ah—who was their cousin and their brother through their mother—until they reached us in Medina]. They spoke to him and said: "Indeed, your mother has vowed that no comb shall touch her head until she sees you." So he felt compassion for her. I said to him: "O Ayyash, by Allah, the people only want [to lure] you away from your religion, so beware of them. By Allah, if lice were to bother your mother, she would surely comb her hair, and if the heat of Mecca became intense for her"—I think he said—"she would surely comb her hair." He said: "I have wealth there which I will take." I said: "By Allah, you know that I am one of the wealthiest of the Quraysh, so you shall have half of my wealth, but do not go with them." He refused [anything] except to go out with them. When he refused me, I said to him: "Since you have done what you have done, take this she-camel of mine, for she is a well-trained camel, so stay on her back. If you suspect any treachery from the people, escape upon her." So he went out with them upon her until they were partway on the road. Abu Jahl bin Hisham said: "By Allah, I find this camel of mine slow; will you not carry me upon this she-camel of yours?" He replied: "Yes." So he made her kneel, and they both made their camels kneel so he could transfer to it. When they were level with the ground, they fell upon him and bound him, then they brought him into Mecca and tempted him, and he fell into trial. He said: We used to say, "By Allah, Allah will not accept from one who was tried (and fell) any obligatory or voluntary act, nor does He accept the repentance of a people who knew Allah and then returned to disbelief due to a trial that afflicted them." He said: And they used to say that about themselves. When the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) arrived in Medina, there was revealed concerning them, concerning what we said about them, and what they said about themselves: {O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins} [Az-Zumar: 53] until His saying: {while you do not perceive} [Az-Zumar: 55]. Umar said: So I wrote it on a scroll and sent it to Hisham bin al-Aas. Hisham said: I continued to read it at Dhu Tuwa, going up with it until I understood it. He said: It was cast into my soul that it was revealed concerning us and concerning what we used to say about ourselves and what was said about us. So I returned, sat upon my camel, and joined the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) in Medina.

Pasha Allahun, sikur nënën tënde ta shqetësonin morrat, ajo do t'i krehte flokët, dhe sikur t'i rëndonte vapa e Mekës" — mendoj se tha — "ajo do t'i krehte flokët." Ai tha: "Unë kam pasuri atje dhe do ta marr atë."
