1761 - Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, [saying] 'Uthman ibn 'Umar narrated to us, [saying] Isra'il narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Harithah ibn Mudarrib, on the authority of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, who said: When we arrived in Medina, its climate did not suit us and we were afflicted with a fever. The Prophet (pbuh) used to seek information about the Quraysh, and it reached him that they had encamped at Badr, which is a well. So, he sent two men: one of them was al-Zubayr, and Abu Ishaq believes the other was 'Ali. They encountered two men: a man from the Quraysh and a client of 'Uqbah ibn Abi Mu'ayt. The Qurayshi man escaped, and they brought the client. They began questioning him, saying: "How many are the people?" or "How many are they?" He would say: "By Allah, they are many in number and formidable in strength," until they brought him to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). He said the same to him, so the Prophet (pbuh) asked: "How many [camels] do the people slaughter every day?" He replied: "Ten camels." He said: "One camel for every hundred; the people are a thousand." He said: During the night, we were struck by a light drizzle, so we scattered under the trees and the leather shields. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) spent his night praying and saying: "O Allah, if this small band is destroyed, You will not be worshipped on the earth." When dawn broke, he said: "The prayer, O servants of Allah." So we came forward from under the trees and the shields. He then urged or encouraged us for battle, and said: "It is as if I am looking at their fallen bodies." When the people drew near, there was a man riding among them on a red camel. The Prophet (pbuh) said to al-Zubayr: "Call some of your companions and ask him, 'Who is the owner of the red camel?' For if there is anyone among the people who commands good, it is he." Al-Zubayr asked: "Who is the owner of the red camel?" They replied: "'Utbah ibn Rabi'ah," and he was forbidding them from fighting, saying: "O my people, I see a people who are seeking death; by Allah, I do not think you will reach them until you are destroyed." He said: When Abu Jahl heard what he was saying, he approached him and said: "Your lungs have been filled with terror when you saw Muhammad and his companions." 'Utbah said to him: "Is it me you mean, O you with the yellow buttocks? You will soon know which of us is more cowardly." Then he dismounted from his camel, followed by his brother Shaybah and his son al-Walid, and they challenged [the Muslims] to a duel. Some young men from the Ansar rushed out to face them, but 'Utbah asked: "Who are you?" They told him, and he said: "We have no need of you; we only want our cousins." Then the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "Stand up, O Hamzah; stand up, O 'Ali; stand up, O 'Ubaydah ibn al-Harith." He said: So Hamzah faced 'Utbah, I faced Shaybah, and 'Ubaydah faced al-Walid. He said: Hamzah did not take long to finish his opponent, and I did not take long to finish mine. He said: Two blows were exchanged between al-Walid and 'Ubaydah, and each of them wounded the other severely. He said: Then Hamzah and I turned toward them, finished off al-Walid, and carried 'Ubaydah away. I [the sub-narrator] say: A portion of this is narrated by Abu Dawud.

Atëherë i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: "Ngrihu, o Hamza; ngrihu, o Ali; ngrihu, o Ubejde ibn el-Harith." Aliu tha: Hamza u përball me Utben, unë u përballa me Shejben, ndërsa Ubejde u përball me El-Velidin.
