#1778 1778 - Muhammad bin Ma'mar narrated to us, Umar bin Yunus al-Yamami narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Husayn bin Abdillah, from Ikrimah, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, who said: Abu Rafi' said: I was in charge of the wealth of al-Abbas, and Islam had already entered us, the people of the household; so I embraced Islam, and Umm al-Fadl embraced Islam. Al-Abbas used to fear his people and disliked opposing them, so he kept his Islam secret. He was a man of great wealth that was scattered among his people. Abu Lahab had stayed behind [from the Battle of Badr] and sent in his place al-Asi bin Hisham bin al-Mughirah; and they used to do as such—no man stayed behind except that he sent a man in his place. When the news arrived of the calamity that befell the Quraysh at Badr, we felt strength and honor within ourselves. I was a weak man, and I used to make cups, carving them in the chamber of Zamzam. By Allah, while I was sitting therein carving my cups, and Umm al-Fadl was sitting with me—and we were delighted by the news that reached us—Abu Lahab approached until he sat at the tent-rope of the chamber, leaning his back against my back. Then the people said: "Abu Sufyan bin al-Harith bin Abd al-Muttalib has arrived." The people stood around him, and [Abu Lahab] said: "O nephew, tell me, for you have the news." He said: "No, by Allah, it was only that we met the people and offered them our shoulders; they were killing us as they pleased and capturing us as they pleased. By Allah, despite that, I saw men on piebald horses between the earth and the sky, whom nothing could withstand." Abu Rafi' said: I lifted the tent-rope of the chamber and said: "By Allah, those were the angels!" Abu Lahab raised his hand and struck my face a severe blow. I grappled with him, but he picked me up and threw me to the ground, then knelt over me and began beating me—and I was a weak man. Umm al-Fadl said: "I deemed him weak," so he stood up and turned away humiliated. By Allah, he lived for only seven nights after that until Allah afflicted him with the adasah (malignant sore), which killed him. His sons left him for two or three nights without burying him until he began to rot. The Quraysh used to avoid the adasah just as people avoid the plague, until a man from Quraysh said to his son—or to his two sons: "Woe to you both! Are you not ashamed? Your father has rotted in his house and you do not bury him!" They replied: "We fear it from him." He said: "Proceed, and I am with you." They did not wash him except by splashing water on him from a distance without touching him. Then they carried him and buried him in the upper part of Mecca.

A nuk ju vjen turp? Ata u përgjigjën: "Ne i frikësohemi asaj prej tij." Ai tha: "Shkoni, se unë jam me ju."
