#2695 2695 - Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Umar ibn Yunus narrated to us, Ikrimah ibn Ammar narrated to us, Abu Zumayl narrated to us, Ibn Abbas narrated to us, who said: I heard Umar ibn al-Khattab saying: Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah wrote a letter to Mecca, and Allah made His Prophet (pbuh) aware of it. So he sent Ali and al-Zubayr in pursuit of the letter. They caught up with the woman on a camel, and they extracted it from one of the braids of her hair. They brought it to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and it was read to him. He then sent for Hatib and said: "O Hatib! Did you write this letter?" He replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "What prompted you to do that?" He said: "By Allah, I am sincere towards Allah and His Messenger, but I was a stranger among the people of Mecca, and my family was in their midst. I feared for them, so I wrote a letter that would not harm Allah or His Messenger in the least, and perhaps it would be of benefit to my family." Umar said: "I then drew my sword and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Enable me to deal with Hatib, for he has committed disbelief, so let me strike his neck.'" The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "O son of al-Khattab! And what do you know? Perhaps Allah looked upon this group from the people of Badr and said: 'Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you.'"

E sollën atë te i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) dhe ajo iu lexua atij. A e ke shkruar ti këtë letër?" Ai tha: "Po, o i Dërguari i Allahut!" Atëherë i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: "O biri i El-Hattabit!
