2746 - Muhammad ibn Ma'mar narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Matar ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-A'naq narrated to us, a woman from among us from 'Abd al-Qays, called Umm Aban bint al-Zari', narrated to me from her grandfather al-Zari': That he went as part of a delegation to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), and he set out with his maternal brother, who was called Matar ibn Hilal from 'Anzah, and he set out with a nephew of his who was possessed, and with them was al-Ashajj, whose name was Mundhir ibn 'A'idh. Al-Mundhir said, "O Zari', you have set out with us bringing a possessed man and a young youth who is not from us, as delegates to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh)." Al-Zari' replied, "As for the afflicted one, I bring him to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) so that he may pray for him; perhaps Allah will heal him. As for the youth from 'Anzah, he is my maternal brother, and I hope that the Prophet (pbuh) will offer a supplication for him, so that the supplication of the Prophet (pbuh) may reach him." No sooner had we reached Medina than it was said, "This is the Messenger of Allah (pbuh)." We could not contain ourselves and jumped from our mounts, rushing to him, and we began taking his hands and feet, kissing them. Al-Ashajj made his mount kneel and tied it—all while the Prophet (pbuh) was watching—then he went to our mounts, made each one kneel one by one, and tied them all. Then he went to his travel bag, opened it, took off his travel garments, and then came walking. The Prophet (pbuh) said, "O Ashajj, indeed you possess two characteristics that Allah and His Messenger love." He asked, "And what are they, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you?" He (pbuh) said, "Forbearance and deliberation." He asked, "Is it that I have acquired these characteristics, or did Allah create me with them naturally?" He (pbuh) said, "Allah created you with them naturally." He said, "Praise be to Allah who created me with two characteristics that Allah and His Messenger love." Al-Zari' said, "O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, I have brought a nephew of mine who is afflicted, so that you may pray to Allah for him, and he is with the riding beasts." He (pbuh) said, "Bring him to me." He (Al-Zari') said: So I went to him, having seen what al-Ashajj had done, so I took my travel bag, took out two handsome garments from it, took off his travel clothes, and dressed him in those two garments. Then I took him by the hand and brought him to the Prophet (pbuh) while he was looking with the look of a possessed person. The Prophet (pbuh) said, "Position his back toward me." So I stood him up and placed his back toward the Prophet (pbuh) and his face toward me. He (pbuh) took hold of him, then pulled him by the folds of his cloak and raised his hand until I saw the whiteness of his armpits. Then he struck his back with his garment and said, "Come out, O enemy of Allah!" The boy then turned around, looking with the look of a healthy person. Then he (pbuh) sat him down before him, prayed for him, and wiped his face. He (Al-Zari') said: That wipe never ceased to be visible on his face; even when he was an old man, his face looked like the face of a young maiden. And there was no man among the people who was favored over him after the supplication of the Prophet (pbuh). Then he (pbuh) prayed for us, the tribe of 'Abd al-Qays, saying, "The best of the people of the East. May Allah have mercy on 'Abd al-Qays, for they embraced Islam without being disgraced, while some people refused to embrace Islam." He said: Then he continued to pray for us until the sun passed the meridian. Al-Zari' said: I said, "O Prophet of Allah, indeed we have with us a nephew [sister's son] of ours who is not from us." He (pbuh) said, "The son of a people's sister is one of them." We then departed to return. Al-Ashajj said, "O Zari', you were more exemplary in judgment than I regarding those two." Among the group was Jahm ibn Qutham, who had previously drunk [wine] in Bahrain with a cousin of his; his cousin had stood up to him and struck his leg with a sword, and that strike remained on his leg. Some of the people said, "O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, indeed our land is heavy and unwholesome, and we drink from this beverage with our food." He (pbuh) said, "Perhaps one of you drinks a vessel, then adds another to it until the drink takes hold of him, so he stands up to his cousin and strikes his leg with a sword." Jahm ibn Qutham then began covering his leg. He (the narrator) said: So he (pbuh) forbade them from using the gourd (al-dubba'), the hollowed stump (al-naqir), and the pitch-smeared jar (al-hantam).

Ai (s.a.v.s.) tha: "Butësia (el-hilm) dhe maturia (el-enah)." Ai pyeti: "A i kam fituar këto cilësi, apo Allahu më ka krijuar natyrshëm me to?" Ai (s.a.v.s.) tha: "Allahu të ka krijuar natyrshëm me to." Ai (s.a.v.s.) tha: "Sille këtu." Ai (transmetuesi) tha: Kështu, ai (s.a.v.s.) ua ndaloi atyre përdorimin e enëve: ed-dubba' (tikulli), en-nekir (trungu i gërmuar) dhe el-hantem (qypi i lyer)."
