#977 977 - And on the authority of Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "Knowledge is about to be lifted," and he repeated it three times. Ziyad bin Labid said: "O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, how will knowledge be lifted from us while this is the Book of Allah, which we have read, and our children will recite it to their children?" The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) turned toward him and said: "May your mother lose you, O Ziyad bin Labid! I used to consider you among the jurists of the people of Medina. Do these Jews not have the Torah and the Gospel? Yet, of what avail were they to them? Indeed, Allah does not remove knowledge by lifting it away, but rather He removes it by taking away its carriers—I believe he said—and no scholar of this nation passes away except that it causes a breach in Islam that will not be closed until the Day of Resurrection."
