Hadith #3875 - Majma al-Zawaid - The Compilation of Extra Narrations and the Source of Benefits

٣٨٧٥ - وَعَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ رَابِّهِ، رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ كَانَ خَلَفَ عَلَى أُمِّهِ بَعْدَ أَبِيهِ كَانَ شَهِدَ طَاعُونَ عَمُوَاسَ قَالَ: لَمَّا اشْتَغَلَ الْوَجَعُ قَامَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ فِي النَّاسِ خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ رَحْمَةُ رَبِّكُمْ وَدَعْوَةُ نَبِيِّكُمْ وَمَوْتُ الصَّالِحِينَ قَبْلَكُمْ، وَإِنَّ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ - ﷿ - أَنْ يَقْسِمَ لَهُ مِنْهُ حَظَّهُ قَالَ: فَطُعِنَ فَمَاتَ - ﵀ - وَاسْتَخْلَفَ عَلَى النَّاسِ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ فَقَامَ خَطِيبًا بَعْدَهُ فَقَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ رَحْمَةُ رَبِّكُمْ وَدَعْوَةُ نَبِيِّكُمْ وَمَوْتُ الصَّالِحِينَ قَبْلَكُمْ، وَإِنَّ مُعَاذًا يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ لِآلِ مُعَاذٍ مِنْهُ حَظَّهُ قَالَ: فَطُعِنَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنُهُ فَمَاتَ - ﵀ -، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ لِنَفْسِهِ فَطُعِنَ فِي رَاحَتِهِ - ﵀ -، وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا ثُمَّ يُقَبِّلُ ظَهْرَ كَفِّهِ يَقُولُ: مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي بِمَا فِيكِ شَيْئًا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا فَلَمَّا مَاتَ اسْتُخْلِفَ عَلَى النَّاسِ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ، فَقَامَ فِينَا خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ إِذَا وَقَعَ إِنَّمَا يَشْتَعِلُ اشْتِعَالَ النَّارِ فَتَجَبَّلُوا مِنْهُ فِي الْجِبَالِ فَقَالَ أَبُو وَائِلَةَ الْهُذَلِيُّ: كَذَبْتَ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ صَحِبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - ﷺ - وَأَنْتَ شَرٌّ مِنْ حِمَارِي هَذَا!! قَالَ: وَاللَّهِ لَا أَرُدُّ عَلَيْكَ مَا تَقُولُ - وَايْمُ اللَّهِ - لَا نُقِيمُ عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ وَخَرَجَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَتَفَرَّقُوا عَنْهُ وَدَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَ: فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ - ﵁ - مِنْ رَأْيِ عَمْرٍو فَوَاللَّهِ مَا كَرِهَهُ.
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ، وَشَهْرٌ فِيهِ كَلَامٌ، وَشَيْخُهُ لَمْ يُسَمَّ.

#3875 3875 - And from Shahr ibn Hawshab al-Ash'ari, from his stepfather—a man from his people who had married his mother after his father and who had witnessed the Plague of Amwas—who said: When the affliction intensified, Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah stood to address the people and said: "O people, indeed this affliction is a mercy from your Lord, the prayer of your Prophet, and the death of the righteous before you. Indeed, Abu Ubaydah asks Allah—the Mighty and Majestic—to allot him his share of it." He said: Then he was stricken and died—may Allah have mercy on him—and he appointed Mu'adh ibn Jabal as his successor over the people. He then stood as a speaker after him and said: "O people, indeed this affliction is a mercy from your Lord, the prayer of your Prophet, and the death of the righteous before you. Indeed, Mu'adh asks Allah to allot to the family of Mu'adh their share of it." He said: Then Abd al-Rahman, his son, was stricken and died—may Allah have mercy on him. Then he stood and supplicated to his Lord for himself and was stricken in his palm—may Allah have mercy on him. And I certainly saw him looking at it, then kissing the back of his hand, saying: "I would not love to have anything of this world in exchange for what is in you." When he died, Amr ibn al-Aas was appointed as successor over the people. He stood among us as a speaker and said: "O people, indeed this affliction, when it occurs, it only blazes like the blazing of fire, so seek refuge from it in the mountains." Thereupon, Abu Wa'ilah al-Hudhali said: "By Allah, you have lied! I accompanied the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and you are worse than this donkey of mine!!" He replied: "By Allah, I will not refute what you say—and by Allah—we shall not remain staying in its path." Then he departed, and the people departed with him and they dispersed, and Allah removed it from them. He said: News of Amr's decision reached Umar ibn al-Khattab—may Allah be pleased with him—and by Allah, he did not dislike it.

Vërtet, kjo dhimbje është mëshirë nga Zoti juaj, lutje e Pejgamberit tuaj (s.a.v.s.) dhe vdekje e të devotshmëve para jush. Dhe vërtet, Mu'adhi i kërkon Allahut që t'i caktojë familjes së Mu'adhit pjesën e tyre prej saj." Tha: Atëherë u godit Abdurrahmani, djali i tij, dhe vdiq - Allahu e mëshiroftë. Pastaj ai u ngrit dhe iu lut Zotit të tij për veten e tij, dhe u godit në pëllëmbën e dorës së tij - Allahu e mëshiroftë. Dhe vërtet e pashë atë duke e parë atë (pëllëmbën), pastaj puthi kurrizin e dorës së tij dhe tha: "Nuk do të dëshiroja të kisha në këmbim të asaj që gjendet në ty asgjë nga kjo botë." Kur ai vdiq, u la si pasardhës mbi njerëzit Amr bin el-Asi. Ai u ngrit mes nesh si hatib dhe tha: "O njerëz! Vërtet, kjo dhimbje kur bie, ndizet ashtu siç ndizet zjarri, prandaj merrni malet prej saj." Atëherë Ebu Vaile el-Hudheliu tha: "Gënjeve, pasha Allahun! Unë e kam shoqëruar të Dërguarin e Allahut (s.a.v.s.), ndërsa ti je më i keq se ky gomari im!!" Ai tha: "Pasha Allahun, nuk do të të kthej përgjigje për atë që thua - dhe pasha Allahun - ne nuk do të qëndrojmë në të (vendi i murtajës)." Pastaj ai doli dhe dolën njerëzit bashkë me të, u shpërndanë prej tij dhe Allahu e largoi atë (sëmundjen) prej tyre. Tha: Kjo arriti te Omer bin el-Hatabi (r.a.) lidhur me mendimin e Amrit, dhe pasha Allahun, ai nuk e urrehu atë (nuk e kundërshtoi).
