#4281 4281 - On the authority of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that a Jewish woman used to serve her, and Aisha would not perform any act of kindness toward her except that the Jewish woman would say to her: "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave." She said: Then the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) entered upon me, and I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is there a punishment in the grave before the Day of Resurrection?" He said: "No, and why do you ask that?" She said: "This Jewish woman; we do not perform any act of kindness toward her except that she says: 'May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave.'" He said: "The Jews have lied, and they are liars against Allah; there is no punishment before the Day of Resurrection." She said: Then he remained after that for as long as Allah willed him to remain, until he came out one day at midday, wrapping himself in his garment with his eyes reddened, calling out at the top of his voice: "O people, trials have overshadowed you like patches of a dark night! O people, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much! O people, seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave, for indeed the punishment of the grave is true."
