#4303 4303 - And on the authority of Zayd bin al-Khattab, who said: "We went out with the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) on the day of the Conquest of Mecca toward the graveyards. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) sat near a grave, and we saw him as if he were holding a private conversation. Then the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) stood up, wiping tears from his eyes. Umar met him—and he was the first among us—and said: 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, what makes you weep?' He replied: 'I asked my Lord for permission to visit the grave of my mother, as she was a parent and had rights over me; then I desired to seek forgiveness for her, but He forbade me.' He said: Then he gestured to us to sit, so we sat, and he said: 'I had forbidden you from visiting graves, so whoever among you wishes to visit them, let him do so. And I [had] forbidden you from the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days, so eat and store as you see fit. And I [had] forbidden you from [certain] vessels, and I commanded you regarding [other] vessels, [and I commanded you regarding] vessels, so prepare your infusions; for indeed, the vessel does not make anything lawful nor does it make it unlawful, and avoid every intoxicant.'"
