1345 - Na ka treguar Junusi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Hammad bin Seleme dhe Hammad bin Zejd, që të dy nga Seid el-Xhurejri, nga Abdullah bin Shekik el-Ukejli, nga Abdullah bin Havale el-Ezdi, i cili ka thënë:
«Erdha te i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) kur ai ishte në hijen e një peme (daume) dhe një shkrues po shkruante atë që ai i diktonte. Ai tha: 'O Ibn Havale, a të të shkruaj edhe ty?' Thashë: 'Atë që zgjedh Allahu dhe i Dërguari i Tij për mua!' Ai vazhdoi të diktonte e të diktonte. Tha: Pashë dhe vura re emrin e Ebu Bekrit dhe Omerit (r.a.), dhe e dita se ata të dy nuk shkruheshin veçse për mirë. Ai më tha: 'O Ibn Havale, a të të shkruaj?' Thashë: 'Po, o i Dërguari i Allahut!' Pastaj tha: 'O Ibn Havale, si do të jesh ti kur të shfaqet një fitne (sprovë), ku ai që rri ulur është më i mirë se ai që qëndron në këmbë, ai që qëndron në këmbë është më i mirë se ai që ecën, dhe ai që ecën është më i mirë se ai që vrapon?' Thashë: 'Atë që zgjedh Allahu dhe i Dërguari i Tij për mua.' Pastaj tha: 'O Ibn Havale, si do të jesh ti kur të shfaqet një tjetër (fitne), ku ajo para saj do të duket si një frymëmarrje lepuri, sikur janë brirët e lopës?' Thashë: 'Atë që zgjedh Allahu dhe i Dërguari i Tij për mua.' Tha: Atëherë kaloi një burrë i mbuluar (me rrobë mbi kokë), dhe ai tha: 'Ky dhe shokët e tij atë ditë do të jenë në të vërtetën!' Shkova tek ai, e kapa për supi dhe e ktheva fytyrën e tij nga i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) e i thashë: 'Ky, o i Dërguari i Allahut?' Tha: 'Ky.' Dhe ai ishte Uthman bin Affani».

- حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ:
حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَحَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، كِلَاهُمَا
عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ
الْعُقَيْلِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَوَالَةَ الْأَزْدِيِّ ، قَالَ:
«أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ - ﷺ - وَهُوَ فِي ظِلِّ دَوْمَةٍ وَكَاتِبٌ
يُمْلِي عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا ابْنَ حَوَالَةَ، أَلَا أَكْتُبُكَ؟،
قُلْتُ: مَا خَارَ اللهُ لِي وَرَسُولُهُ! فَجَعَلَ يُمْلِي وَيُمْلِي،
قَالَ: وَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا اسْمُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ ﵄، فَعَرَفْتُ
أَنَّهُمَا لَا يُكْتَبَانِ إِلَّا فِي خَيْرٍ، قَالَ لِي: يَا ابْنَ
حَوَالَةَ: أَلَا أَكْتُبُكَ؟، قُلْتُ: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ! ثُمَّ
قَالَ: يَا ابْنَ حَوَالَةَ، كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا نَشَأَتْ فِتْنَةٌ
الْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَائِمِ وَالْقَائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ
الْمَاشِي وَالْمَاشِي فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ السَّاعِي؟، قُلْتُ: مَا خَارَ
اللهُ لِي وَرَسُولُهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا ابْنَ حَوَالَةَ، كَيْفَ أَنْتَ
إِذَا نَشَأَتْ أُخْرَى الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا كَنَفْحَةِ أَرْنَبٍ كَأَنَّهَا
صَيَاصِي بَقَرٍ؟، قُلْتُ: مَا خَارَ اللهُ لِي وَرَسُولُهُ، قَالَ:
وَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مُقَنَّعٌ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا وَأَصْحَابُهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى
الْحَقِّ! فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَأَخَذْتُ بِمَنْكِبِهِ وَأَقْبَلْتُ بِوَجْهِهِ
عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ - ﷺ - فَقُلْتُ: هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ:
هَذَا، فَإِذَا هُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ».
1345 - Yunus narrated to us, he said: Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah and Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, both from Sa'id al-Jurayri, from 'Abdullah ibn Shaqiq al-'Uqayli, from 'Abdullah ibn Hawalah al-Azdi, who said:
'I came to the Messenger of Allah (saw) while he was in the shade of a Dom tree and a scribe was writing what he dictated. He said: "O Ibn Hawalah, shall I have your name written down?" I said: "Whatever Allah and His Messenger choose for me!" So he continued dictating and dictating. He said: I looked and saw the names of Abu Bakr and 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), so I knew that they would not be written down except for something good. He said to me: "O Ibn Hawalah, shall I have your name written down?" I said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" Then he said: "O Ibn Hawalah, how will you be when a fitnah (tribulation) arises in which the one sitting is better than the one standing, the one standing is better than the one walking, and the one walking is better than the one running?" I said: "Whatever Allah and His Messenger choose for me." Then he said: "O Ibn Hawalah, how will you be when another arises, compared to which the previous one was like the kick of a rabbit, as if it were the horns of cows?" I said: "Whatever Allah and His Messenger choose for me." He said: A man with his head covered passed by, and he said: "This man and his companions on that day will be upon the truth!" So I went to him, took him by his shoulder, and turned his face toward the Messenger of Allah (saw) and said: "This one, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "This one." And it was 'Uthman ibn 'Affan.'
