- Na ka treguar Ebu Davudi, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Sulejman bin el-Mugira, i cili ka thënë: Na ka treguar Thabiti, nga Abdurrahman bin Ebi Lejla, i cili ka thënë: Më ka treguar el-Mikdad bin el-Esvedi, i cili ka thënë:
«Erdha unë dhe dy shokë të mi, aq shumë ishim të rraskapitur saqë pothuajse na u morën dëgjimi dhe shikimi nga lodhja e madhe. Filluam t'u ofroheshim shokëve të Pejgamberit (s.a.v.s.), por askush nuk na pranonte, derisa Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) na mori në shtëpinë e tij. Familja e Muhamedit (s.a.v.s.) kishte tri dhi që i mjelin. Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) e ndante qumështin mes nesh, ndërsa ne ia linim Pejgamberit (s.a.v.s.) pjesën e tij. Ai vinte dhe jepte selam me një përshëndetje që e dëgjonte ai që ishte zgjuar, por nuk e zgjonte atë që ishte në gjumë.
Shejtani më pëshpëriti: 'Sikur ta pije këtë gllënjkë! Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) shkon te Ensarët dhe ata e gostisin.' Nuk pushoi derisa e piva. Pasi e piva, më kapi pendimi dhe (shejtani) më tha: 'Çfarë bëre? Do të vijë Muhamedi (s.a.v.s.) dhe nuk do ta gjejë pijen e tij, pastaj do të lutet kundër teje dhe do të shkatërrohesh.' Sa u përket dy shokëve të mi, ata e pinë pjesën e tyre dhe fjetën. Ndërsa mua nuk më zinte gjumi. Kisha një mbulesë të shkurtër, që nëse e vendosja mbi kokë, më dilnin këmbët, e nëse e vendosja mbi këmbë, më dilte koka.
Erdhi Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) ashtu siç vinte zakonisht, u fal aq sa deshi Allahu të falet, pastaj shikoi te pija e tij dhe nuk pa asgjë. Ai ngriti duart dhe unë thashë: 'Tani do të lutet kundër meje dhe do të shkatërrohem!' Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) tha: 'O Allah, ushqeje atë që më ushqeu dhe jepi të pijë atij që më dha të pijë.'
Atëherë mora thikën dhe mbulesën time dhe shkova te dhitë, duke i prekur se cila prej tyre ishte më e majme që ta therrja për Pejgamberin (s.a.v.s.). Kur ç'të shoh, të gjitha ishin me thirrë (me qumësht) plot. Mora një enë të familjes së Muhamedit (s.a.v.s.), në të cilën ata as që shpresonin të mjelin aq shumë, dhe mola derisa u mbush me shkumë. Pastaj ia dërgova Pejgamberit (s.a.v.s.) dhe ai piu. Pastaj ma dha mua dhe unë piva. Pastaj ia dhashë atij dhe ai piu. Pastaj ma dha mua dhe unë piva. Pastaj qesha aq shumë saqë u rrëzova në tokë.
Ai më tha: 'Një nga bëmat e tua, o Mikdad!' Atëherë fillova t'i tregoja se çfarë kisha bërë. Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) më tha: 'Kjo nuk ishte gjë tjetër veçse mëshirë nga Allahu. Sikur t'i kishe zgjuar dy shokët e tu që të merrnin edhe ata pjesë nga kjo!' Unë i thashë: 'Pasha Atë që të dërgoi me të Vërtetën, nuk më intereson se kush tjetër nga njerëzit mbeti pa të, përderisa e more ti dhe unë mora nga teprica jote.'»

- حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ
الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ
أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ ، قَالَ:
«جِئْتُ أَنَا وَصَاحِبَانِ لِي قَدْ كَادَتْ تَذْهَبُ أَسْمَاعُنَا
وَأَبْصَارُنَا مِنَ الْجَهْدِ، فَجَعَلْنَا نَعْرِضُ أَنْفُسَنَا عَلَى
أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ - ﷺ - مَا يَقْبَلُنَا أَحَدٌ، حَتَّى انْطَلَقَ
بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ - ﷺ - إِلَى رَحْلِهِ وَلِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ثَلَاثَةُ
أَعْنُزٍ يَحْتَلِبُونَهَا، فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ - ﷺ - يُوَزِّعُ اللَّبَنَ
بَيْنَنَا، وَكُنَّا نَرْفَعُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ - ﷺ - نَصِيبَهُ فَيَجِيءُ
فَيُسَلِّمُ تَسْلِيمًا يُسْمِعُ الْيَقْظَانَ وَلَا يُوقِظُ النَّائِمَ،
فَقَالَ لِيَ الشَّيْطَانُ: لَوْ شَرِبْتَ هَذِهِ الْجَرْعَةَ! فَإِنَّ
رَسُولَ اللهِ - ﷺ - يَأْتِي الْأَنْصَارَ فَيُتْحِفُونَهُ. فَمَا زَالَ
حَتَّى شَرِبْتُهَا، فَلَمَّا شَرِبْتُهَا نَدَّمَنِي وَقَالَ: مَا
صَنَعْتَ؟ يَجِيءُ مُحَمَّدٌ - ﷺ - وَلَا يَجِدُ شَرَابَهُ فَيَدْعُو
عَلَيْكَ فَتَهْلِكُ، فَأَمَّا صَاحِبَايَ فَشَرِبَا شَرَابَهُمَا
وَنَامَا، وَأَمَّا أَنَا فَلَمْ يَأْخُذْنِي النَّوْمُ، وَعَلَيَّ
شَمْلَةٌ لِي إِذَا وَضَعْتُهَا عَلَى رَأْسِي بَدَتْ فِيهِ قَدَمَايَ
وَإِذَا وَضَعْتُهَا عَلَى قَدَمَيَّ بَدَا رَأْسِي، وَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ - ﷺ
- كَمَا كَانَ يَجِيءُ، فَصَلَّى مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ ثُمَّ
نَظَرَ إِلَى شَرَابِهِ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا، فَرَفَعَ يَدَهُ، فَقُلْتُ:
يَدْعُو عَلَيَّ الْآنَ فَأَهْلِكُ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: اللَّهُمَّ
أَطْعِمْ مَنْ أَطْعَمَنِي وَاسْقِ مَنْ سَقَانِي، فَأَخَذْتُ الشَّفْرَةَ
وَأَخَذْتُ الشَّمْلَةَ وَانْطَلَقْتُ إِلَى الْأَعْنُزِ أَجُسُّهُنَّ
أَيُّهُنَّ أَسْمَنُ كَيْ أَذْبَحَهُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَإِذَا حُفَّلٌ
كُلُّهُنَّ، فَأَخَذْتُ إِنَاءً لِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ مَا كَانُوا يَطْمَعُونَ
أَنْ يَحْلِبُوا فِيهِ، فَحَلَبْتُ حَتَّى عَلَتْهُ الرَّغْوَةُ، ثُمَّ
أَتَيْتُ بِهِ رَسُولَ اللهِ - ﷺ - فَشَرِبَ، ثُمَّ نَاوَلَنِي فَشَرِبْتُ،
ثُمَّ نَاوَلْتُهُ فَشَرِبَ، ثُمَّ نَاوَلَنِي فَشَرِبْتُ، ثُمَّ ضَحِكْتُ
حَتَّى أُلْقِيتُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، فَقَالَ لِي: إِحْدَى سَوْآتِكَ يَا
مِقْدَادُ، فَأَنْشَأْتُ أُخْبِرُهُ بِمَا صَنَعْتُ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ
اللهِ ﷺ: مَا كَانَتْ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِنَ اللهِ، لَوْ كُنْتَ أَيْقَظْتَ
صَاحِبَيْكَ فَأَصَابَا مِنْهَا!، فَقُلْتُ: وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ
مَا أُبَالِي إِذَا أَصَبْتَهَا أَنْتَ وَأَصَبْتُ فَضْلَكَ مَنْ
أَخْطَأَتْ مِنَ النَّاسِ».
1256 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, he said: Thabit narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, who said: Al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad narrated to me, saying:
"I and two companions of mine arrived, and our hearing and sight were almost gone due to exhaustion. We began presenting ourselves to the companions of the Messenger of Allah (saw), but no one would accept us, until the Messenger of Allah (saw) took us to his dwelling. The family of Muhammad had three goats which they used to milk. The Prophet (saw) would distribute the milk among us, and we used to set aside for the Messenger of Allah (saw) his portion. He would come and give a greeting that would be heard by those awake but would not wake those who were sleeping.
Then Satan said to me: 'If only you drank this portion! For the Messenger of Allah (saw) goes to the Ansar and they give him gifts.' He kept at me until I drank it. When I had drunk it, he made me feel regret and said: 'What have you done? Muhammad (saw) will come and not find his drink, then he will supplicate against you and you will perish.' As for my two companions, they had drunk their portions and slept. As for me, sleep did not take me. I had a small wrap (shamlah) that if I put it over my head, my feet would show, and if I put it over my feet, my head would show.
The Prophet (saw) came as he used to come, and he prayed as much as Allah willed for him to pray. Then he looked at his drink and saw nothing. He raised his hand, and I said: 'He is supplicating against me now, and I shall perish!' But the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'O Allah, feed the one who fed me, and give drink to the one who gave me drink.'
So I took the blade and took the wrap and went to the goats, feeling them to see which was the fattest so I could slaughter it for the Messenger of Allah (saw). To my surprise, all of them had udders full of milk. I took a vessel belonging to the family of Muhammad that they never hoped to be able to fill with milk, and I milked until the foam rose to the top. Then I brought it to the Messenger of Allah (saw) and he drank. Then he handed it to me and I drank. Then I handed it to him and he drank. Then he handed it to me and I drank. Then I laughed until I fell to the ground.
He said to me: 'One of your antics, O Miqdad!' So I began to tell him what I had done. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said to me: 'This was nothing but a mercy from Allah. If only you had woken your two companions so they could have partaken of it!' I said: 'By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not care, since you have partaken of it and I have partaken of your leftovers, who among the people missed out on it.'"
